I live in Arizona and would like to buy some OEM parts (black panniers etc.) from a Canadian dealership since it's not being offered here in the states. Is it as easy as buying it online or contacting them and they simply ship it down here for the posted price, or are there things I need to be aware of like import taxes, warranty issues etc?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

no issues going north of the border, recommend using canada post/US post, as the brokerage fees are non existent.
Can't really vouch for a great dealer up here...(around calgary) I do have a great parts guy at blackfoot motorcycles, best to call and ask for Kevin

I've ordered a few parts/pieces for my other bikes from Canada and have never had issue, always show up a few days later just as any other package..

Should be no problems but don't expect fast service from the Canadian Postal Service. Quicker by Banana Boat. Expect 2-3 weeks. And they have the balls to charge you plenty for the privilige of using your own vasiline. ::001::

Question for US peoples: You still able to buy some yamaha OEM part from Canada?

I'm asking this because, for us Canadien, it's almost imposssible to buy in the US now, US yamaha dealer cannot sold anything to canadian since last years. yamaha want to protect the canadian market. That suck, the parts are 25% cheaper in the usa.

I don't know if we can since I haven't contacted a Canadian dealership directly. What really pisses me off is how uncooperative local dealerships and Yamaha USA HQ, which I both contacted directly, are about helping people like me getting parts from other countries. They always talk about "buy Yamaha this, and that" but when push comes to shove they only help as far as their sales borders go... I understand turf protection and all, but help a guy out. I've already invested tons of money into their product and I want to invest some more... lip service is a bitch!

We just looked in to ordering the black bags. For what it would cost (not to mention delivery times) we tore apart a US set and are powder coating the panels. Less than $100!

Can you give me some more details on how you did this and maybe post some pics :) I just got my SW Motech skid plate powder coated for like 35 bucks and it looks awesome.
