It's damn clean. but it's a first gen. Give him 10 grand.

The expensive accessories are:
boxes,
corbin seats,
and crash protection.

If you do buy the bike, ask:
-clutch basket? this is optional
-all recalls done (headlight harness done?)

I'm not sure what leftover first gen's are going for in the US of A, but a similarly low KM bike in Canada would be the ($11 CDN aka funny money) or $8500 USD, but without any accessoires.
The one below has 2500KM...1400 miles.

happy hunting.

The bike itself looks pristine. With 5,000 miles it's barely broke in and will probably have the original cam chain tensioner and basket to replace at some point. The first valve check is 26,000 miles and convenient. Unless you see something which is out of place, the bike is going to be like new and will be great.

As for price, run a search on CycleTrader, then another on Craigslist. Take prints from each with you and you ought to get him down closer to the $10k that Greg mentioned.

Welcome to the group.

I see most Gen 1 bikes going for about 8k with no add ons. with the list of add ons, could push 10k. Ask the questions that Greg advised.

Nice looking bike & probably better than depicted. I would not worry about doing anything immeditely, but you could check to see if any warrany work has been completed (head light, fuel tank gasket & cam chain tensioner). Otherwise you can schedule that as you go especially if it has a YES warranty.

Last year, I picked up a 2012, same color, same mods (except heated seats) with 2,000 on the ODO for $8,000. Maybe that was a great deal but I wouldn't pay more than $9,000 for that one.

Aren't there 2 recalls for the gen 1 model; headlight and something with the fuel line under the tank?

The fuel tank / pump o-ring just applied to the early 2012s and I'd be surprised if any have not been addressed. Basically, some o-rings got twisted on installation and leaked. If the bike's gone this long, I wouldn't worry at all.

The headlight wiring is a fairly quick and easy one, too. Take the VIN to any Yamaha dealer and they can tell if the recall's been complied with.

You guys were right, in me confusing the location of this Texas guy and the other thread from Canada. My bad.

But - BWA HA HA - Being the mod, I deleted the posts pointing this out.

>:D

Seriously, the number of posts calling me out were getting to be more than the ones trying to help the guy with the question. This post is just to let you guys know what happened.

Well guys I made the 3 hour drive from Austin to Houston and bought the bike. I ended up paying $10300 for it. The bike was so clean you could eat off it. Mint, showroom condition. I've only had it one day and its already filthy! Went riding in the rain yesterday! Handles great with that traction control. Cleaned it up a bit and it looks like more rain so it may stay parked today. BTW, what is a good way to clean in all the nooks and crannies?
I also wanted to inquire where the best place to buy the side stand foot was. I also am not satisfied with the windshield on this bike. I am used to a really big one like is on my BMW K1200LT and you feel almost no wind This one is really noisy with all the wind noise. Can anyone send me a link for a really big one. ?
I am going to be taking the bike into the dealer soon for a recall on the front light harness or some such. Would it be easy for them to put in some high intensity bulbs at that time? Any recommendations on those? Just for fun I loaded my bike up today with all my camping gear and even my fly rod. It looked like I was headed to Alaska! HA! Thanks for all the good advice!

Great going you got a nice bike - it will not dissapoint! Good color too. See the link below for a windscreen, an MRA which will bolt right on without needing a bunch of brackets etc. It works great right out of the box! Eliminated all buffeting, and I wear an Arai XD (the worst helmet on earth for buffeting) and even with that the problem is solved. Also its not too big so it provides some air flow and does not look like a police bike. Mine is on the low setting....

Also, buy some Tri-flow lube from the hardware store. Spray on the shiter linkage on occasion or after riding in the rain, keeps the shifting smooth.

Good luck & enjoy your new ride!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Bulbs are common H7 from any auto parts store, and are easy to swap out.

If you want big coverage in windshields, the Parabellum is wider and they have a really tall version. Be aware that you sit far enough back from it that you may want to go for something that breaks the air across shoulder level, keeping your helmet in clean air. For my 2012, the Parabellum Medium was the ticket to that.

Search works well on this forum for all the other questions that you will have.

Congrats on the bike! Like Checkswrecks said, our forum has been very active since the bike was released in the US (although we have members from all around the world), so any topic you can think of has been discussed. There is a currently active thread on headlights, since some bikes seem to eat headlight bulbs more than others; a popular option is to replace the stock lamps with the Cyclops LED kit.
