I have driven about 2300 KM since I got my T12 2020 and when the gas indicator starts flashing its starts counting upwards. So I was at 40km after marking and was only able to fit 18 liters when it says the tank is 24 liters. Am I to conservative and tank to early or im missing something?

I do the same thing. I fill up at about 200mi. It will take between 4.7 & 5 us gal depending on how enthusiastic my right hand has been. When I fill up, my gauge has been flashing for a while. I use an all-time worse mileage of 40mpg as a guestimate. 40mpg at 6.5 gal = 260mi. I like having that cushion for Justin. (Just in case)

That last bar starts flashing pretty early. I’ve gone over 260 miles (~420 Km) on a tank before. I once ran it so low I was able to put the rated 6.1 gallons (~23 L) in. The bike was still running fine when I pulled up to the pump, so I think in reality it holds a bit more than the spec indicates.

i reckon theres a generous reserve range of about 130km from initial switch over to Trip-F. anecdotal rather than scientific, so don't cuss me if ya run out :p

And the gauge sending unit has to be on the right side. 'Cuz, after being on the side stand with a lower fuel level, it will blink/flash for maybe a mile, but then stop blinking/flashing. Sometimes even showing two bars.

You are fine. The low-tank warning comes on right at 25 percent remaining for me. I fit a bit over 4.5 US gallons after going a bit further. For what it's worth, my WR250R does the same thing at 25 percent, too, though in that case it's only half of a US gallon remaining. I assume it's a general standard for Yamaha.

Look up older threads on putting a hole in the inside filler neck to fit more gas into the air space at the top.

Just don't fill in the morning of a hot day and park the bike, as the expanding gas needs to go somewhere. Likely overboard but if the vent is plugged the expansion can do damage.

Or just strap a can of gas to the rack.

Or just fill up at 200ish miles. Even out in West Texas gas stations aren't that far apart.
