So I plugged in my Slime tire inflator to the cigarette lighter and I blew the fuse. Upon changing it, I noticed it is a 3A fuse.

Is that all it takes? Can it provide more amps to inflate tires?

How are you guys plugging in your tire inflators?

SAE cable 20 A fuse direct from the battery out the left side. Good for battery tender and heated gear as well.

We need a category for never-ending threads.
::)
Please do a search and you'll find many many threads on this, why not to put a bigger fuse in, etc.

I had the same thing happen. Simply replaced the fuse with a 7.5 worked fine, wire size seemed to be OK with the amps.

Thanks! How long have you been running it with a 7.5A fuse and how often do you use it with high amperage things like the inflator?

Spend the $5 and 30 minutes of your time, and do it right. Just sayin'...

Why not put the best threads on a given topic (with a REALLY GOOD SUBJECT LINE) on top of the Technical section (in this case) as stickies so they are super easy to spot??......

That little change would make the forum more useful. So given that is there a good thread on the outlet or one that compiles the easy electrical stuff? Stickie!

The same would apply to a nice thread on changing wheels out, brakes (with pictures of course).....

Just say'in....

It also would make for great pre purchase reading material. If you ask me, this is one of those things that you must know before purchasing the bike because it is one of the first things you need to address. I'm really glad I found out about this in my garage as opposed to fidning out in the middle of Death Valley when i want to air up to go back to camp.

There are more technically inclined people who will read about it and figure it out in advance. Others, like me, aren't really entertained by the more technical things and just want to plug wherever there's a plug that matches and hope that the engineering team at Yamaha figured it out for us.

When I get a chance I plan to, just like there is a blank sticky for the "Why is my bike so hard to shift?" question leading to instructions for lubing the shift linkage as a subject.
Right now I'm trying to get ready for Romney.
