Ok so there has been a few discussions about getting rides together when the bikes arrive. I know there is a pretty solid contingent here in Northern California and I suspect equal numbers in Southern California. So I am proposing a California ride with the Northern and Southern California riders meeting up in Cambria (or another spot if there is a need or consensus) for a couple of days of riding the Central Coast and costal range. Late August was my first thought but all the bikes might not be in by then so maybe the end of September or first part of October. The weekend of September 18th is out for me. So if you are a California rider and want to get in on this, log in on this thread and state your availability, desired meet up location and favorite roads to include. I wil track this and see what committment we get

We certainly would not want to exclude Tenere owners from out of California so if other want to jump in let your intentions be known.

I'm in! Late September sounds good.
Just told my wife last night that after I got the bike we'd head up to Paso Robles to visit some friends.

I wish the timing was different the wife and I are leaving Toronto on the 11th of June for a trip to the Grand Canyon, California, Oregon, Washington ,Vancouver Island then back home through the States. So this would be a good time to ask you guys for some tips where to stay. Camping, cheep Motels, Rides, and what parks to visit. Any help would be appreciated ....

Thanks Paul

That's awesome, Paul. Of course I'm jealous and am required to dislike you immensely, but let's move on. >:D I have a trip planned (for sometime) to go down through B. C., right down the backbone of Idaho, turn right about Boise, up through Hell's Canyon, Washington and back home. I'll be wanting to get some tips from YOU.

Sounds like a great trip. Vancouver Island will be awesome. Victoria is a big place, as is Nanaimo. After that, all pretty small places. Campbell River is nice. You'll love it. Okay, I really hate you now just thinking about it. Sure wish I could go. :'( Have fun and ride safe. R

Well, since the Great Bear (my lovely wife Rita) doesn't ride, and chooses to stay home with the girls (dogs), I just don't like being gone too long. I'd love to do that. Who knows? Might happen. She always tells me to take as long as I like. Take a year. Two years. Whatever you want. Boy, she'd miss me when it came time to .... uh .... to ..... lift something heavy. Damn right.

I'll see how it works out. I bought a motorsickel trailer this summer so I can get out of here in the fall/winter if I want to. You just never know. R

Rem, if you get down this far, regardless of the time of year - the door is always open and the coffee pot is always on. Decent accommodations are available as well, along with room in my stable for your scoot.

:)

That's very kind of you, and a definite option. Consider adoption. All I would require is my own room and a reasonable allowance.

Maybe we can put something together while you're up this way next year. I have an old classmate in Colorado Springs, and one in Torrington, Wyoming as well. Wouldn't mind touching base before we're all too old to steer a walker. R

I'd be up for that. Have the last 2 wks of Sept off already as I put it aside each year to do coastal and Sierra riding (best time of the year!!). Don't know if I'd be able to camp as I don't know how many farkles I'll have added by then.

Ride Thoughts - I love camping and am pretty much set up for everything I need (except for a way to carry it all) but camping was not my first thought. I figured we would still be figuring these bikes out and getting setups together ( farkles and luggage) so I was thinking about a ride that concentrated on getting to know each other over lunch and dinner and drinks and trying out a variety of roads. I don't much care for fancy hotels so I would be looking for clean and cheap and near a bar/restaurant. Figured we could find a place to all meet up on Friday night in the middle somewhere near good riding (that is why I was suggesting Cambria), get rooms for Friday and Saturday night and do a loop together out of that location on Saturday and back there Saturday night and plan a half day loop together on Sunday and split up in some commonly convenient place to head our north and south directions.

I can plan a route south for the NorCal guys (happy to take suggestions) that would be a full day Friday ride. Kind of had in mind meeting up in Livermore, run south out of Livermore to the backside of Mt Hamilton, over the top and head for Highway 17 to Santa Cruz and take the turnoff at the the sumit and run the ridge to Watsonville. Then down 1 thru Big Sur. We could also run over Big Basin and over to the coast through Ben Lomand. That would give us some goat trails, some twisties and not too much highway for day 1.

Ideas???

I'd be up for that, as long it's not the last week in Sept as I'm taking the SuperTenere' to experience Colorado!

Hi Don, I lived in Lodi all my life until I moved to Galt back in Nov. I moved to Galt so I could have my RV at home and as you know you can't find much in Lodi that has over 20 feet on one side of a house for an RV. Hope to see or meet you sometime on a ride or something. I went on a 300 mile ride yesterday to Bodega Bay with some friends and my son had a blast.
