So I sold my DR650 and am picking up a used WR250r tomorrow. It has 51XX miles and other than a FMF slip on looks stock. Wish me luck. Lots to do this weekend ::022::

Good luck. It's always nice to have a little dirt bike to play with...

Congrats! The WR250R is the only bike I wish I could have alongside the Tenere in the garage.

Have fun!!

I picked up a 2009 WR250R last year. Just remember to wind the gizzard out of it! I'm not used to a little single turning such high rpm and had to add a TrailTech hour/rpm meter to realize that I needed to be above 6k to make any real acceleration. Works great 6k - 9k. Have fun.

Re: Buying a 2009 Wr250r tomorrow

My 2008 WR250R was just feeling broken-in at about 5000 miles. Maybe it just took that long to not be afraid to rev it. Rode it to work today because the S-10 is packed up for a 2-up camping weekend. The 250 makes me feel like a hooligan on the street >:D Riding the WRR totally reminds me that the Ténéré is not a dual-sport. Therefore, these 2 bikes fulfill all my motorcycling needs. I recommend you gear it down a bit (47-tooth rear sprocket). My motor is stock, suspension is Go-Race. Very happy with it.

Most seem to like them. I bought a 2008 WR250R new and was expecting to go back to my old 70s yamaha enduro fun, but was sorely disappointed in mine and sold it at 600 miles.
+1 to that. Sorry I haven't followed up on this thread as I have been very busy selling my DR650 and almost buying a WR250R. In the end I decided to buy a 2012 Husqvarna TE310. All I can say is WOW! Heaps of fun. Put a 50t on the rear and you wanna talk about revving. 248lbs of yeeehaw! 1st gear is awesome for single track which is what this one will be doing most. Somehow I was able to split the molecular DNA of my DR650 into 2 amazing bikes. The Super Ten and the TE310. 8) Here is a teaser pic ::017::

Oh she is loads of fun. 13/50 gearing man this thing rips in the woods ::001:: She is my Italian mistress. A nice contrast to my Blue Beast ::008::

Like a real Italian mistress, is she maintenance intense?

Surprisingly not bad. I enjoy doing garage maintenance and looking at the intervals it won't be anything I can't handle. I may even do more than required. My riding time is very limited on this bike since I live nowhere near any good off road trails so I have to travel 5-6 hours to get to good riding areas. That limits to long weekends in the warmer months. The S ten has been ridden regularly though ::008::
