Hello All

Here is the setup that I am thinking:

1. altrider crashbars - already installed
2. oem skid plate - already installed
3. 41/45 Bumot pannies - pending
4. Yamaha tank bag - pending
5. maybe I might add a dryspec drybag after removing the rear seat
6. 1 gallon gas can on the pannier

I will never have a passenger and will not install the top box.

My question is, what are general pros and cons of going with the big boxes?

Since I don't plan to have the top box, my heart says bigger panniers the better... ?

thoughts?

I ordered my Bumot cases (and toolbox) yesterday and went with the large set.
1) They are only 2" wider than the small set. I will likely never lane split in California.
2) I don't care for top boxes either.
3) I don't carry a passenger.
4) Better to have space and not need it than to need space and not have it IMHO.
5) I've already removed my rear seat, and will eventually put a mid-rack/tail rack that is level on it for my Wolfman Expedition Duffel.
6) (Slightly) More room for stickers/reflectors/whatever.

Cons? I can't really think of any. Once you get these bags on you're not going to notice an extra 1" on each side.

I think I am on the same page as you. Maybe someone with a dissenting opinion will post up (less is better, travel light, keep it simple, etc.)

I have exact same thoughts. I don't plan to hual lot of load but it's better to have some space and not need it!

I have the big ones. There is a silly amount of room in there. I also have the top case. I put my jacket, pants, boots, liners, helmet, gloves, sweatshirt, overnight bag, tool roll.... all locked up tight and didn't even really compress anything. They're ginormous. I do think I'm glad I got the big ones, though. Gas mileage is gonna suffer either way with cases on. I sent Jason pics with a measuring tape in every direction when I got them installed.

I used to tour with soft saddlebags, duffles, and other luggage 15 years ago, and can not understand why anyone would choose soft duffels and dry bags over a trunk, but that is just my hang up. I like tank bags and my friend says it "ruins the bike."

Since I pack heavy, I would always err on the side of the big bags.

They are pretty damn big. I like them, though. I'm working on a way to pack my redverz tent and maybe my pad in one side with my bag and equipment in the other with clothes in the top box. I wanted one set of stuff that could go anywhere. I think I've found it. The smaller ones are by no means small. I went up to meet with Jason to see both sizes when I was deciding. I probably stared at both sizes for a half hour going back and forth.

I got my large size Bumot Defenders and toolbox in silver yesterday, the color almost matches my 2015 Matte Silver S10. Easy install, very pleased. Yes, I would definitely wait to get these even if I had to backorder them.

As requested:

From the right side:

From the left side:

Do these make my butt look fat?

I would say the pictures make the cases look a bit larger than they really are.
