Bumot passed a test - but what's the max weight capacity?

Today I put a good bit of weight into my Bumot panniers. A case of beer on each side, plus some other minor items. Fit quite nicely and I made it home without incident. This is an important milestone. :D I smuggled Coors across a county line and had Eastbound and Down running through my head.

I can't find the max weight capacity of the panniers. I figure each case of beer is a bit over 18 lbs. So not crazy heavy, but still a question. Anyone know?

I think this is probably the highest weight I've carried in the panniers. Normally it's clothes or stuff with a lot of air space. I definitely felt it in the suspension, despite my rear shock being set to near max preload. I chose to be careful over our crappy roads. Frost heaves were taken in as delicate a manner as possible.

I was pleasantly surprised the first time I made a beer run. I have the OE boxes, and had expected to have to break the cases open. Nope. Slid right in. . . . as if that was what was used as a template. My neighbor has a "full sized" 'Wing. He can not put a case (24, 12oz cans) in his side cases. His side cases have more volume, but the shape does not allow for an unbroken case to be put inside.

Crappy roads are why I have a Tenere. If she can't take crappy roads at normal speeds, maybe all the magazines are right about the Beemer being better. :D

I'm less concerned about the bike than the pannier racks. I tested the case of beer in my wife's Bumot panniers - she has the slightly smaller ones on her Tiger 800. The one with the exhaust cut out fit a case of beer like a glove. She seemed pleased, which I guess is why I'm married to her.

These are the OEM cases official weight limits (side and top). Maybe I’ve gone over it a few times...

hope it‘s usefull.

Well, if a jelly kneed OEM pannier can take 22 lbs (or is that across the two?), I'm sure my titanium platinum dark matter Bumot panniers can handle me adding enough bratwurst to fill the remaining space.

Exactly, and it’s 22lbs each. So if the racks are up for it I wouldn’t be worried. Maybe the handling will be a bit odd, but what the heck, go moonchining!
