I've decided to go with Bumont panniers for my '12 S10. I'd like to pick them up in the USA on the beginning of a long weekend and hope I can easily instal the racks in the postal centre parking lot without too much dicking around. Am I dreaming?

I would love to hear from inmates who have installed Bumonts on the S10? Other than issues with the ES model (no ES back in '12), how was your installation experience?

Cheers, Pete

Did the Bumots last year. If it's just the panniers then there are fewer parts swapping around. Just be aware that there are a number of sockets and wrenches you will need. That said, the pannier rack is an easy installation. The trickiest part was the mounting down by the passenger footpeg. At the time, the instructions weren't quite clear on the positioning of the washers and rack relative to the lower frame connection piece. A quick email to ADV Motorrad resolved it. I figured it out myself but wanted confirmation. Can't recall the specific details.

Doable in a parking lot? Sure. I suggest bringing a light colored towel to lay out your parts and tools. But none of it was rocket surgery.
