Hey, guys -- My S10 fell against a picnic table at a campsite when the sidestand sank into loamy soil ... broke the brittle plastic frame that supports the headlights, instruments, & windscreen in 3 places, & it doesn't look like any kind of repair will last long :'( . I'm looking for ideas, advice, sympathy, whatever ya got! I'm headed to the shop in Boulder to see what the damage'll be for a new part ... I can guess it won't be cheap. Anyone else experienced this kind of damage? I was amazed to find it's just plastic! Not very tough for an "adventure bike"!

As I recall, it's only about $80. Easy to check with any of the online parts catalogs

Well your not the first.
Dougs bike fell over in soft sand from the rain and caught the back corner of another bikes pannier as it went down and this happened. No damage to other bike. Just a scratch on the windshield and the broken plastic on his.
A donation from an wooden packing crate, some wire, installed the windshield and it held together for another week for the return ride home from Whitehorse. I think the part was around $50.00 at the time, and a bit of work to remove the surrounding pieces to change it out. Maybe next time some black zip ties would be a better choice. ::008::
Best of luck with the repair if it needs to be replaced to get you home. Bernie

Advice? Next time crush one of your beer cans at the campground and stick it under the sidestand. Works wonders.
I use the centre stand, since it comes with one. Learned that with the previous bike, which didn't come with one.

Centerstand on soft ground? Very bad idea. Almost certain to fall. Sinks in to the tires then tips over. Sidestand with extra support is the way to go.

The loess hills in western Iowa are baically 200 ft of topsoil, no rocks. It did fine overnight but bit it after a quick ride in the a.m. Gotta contact Jaxon for a Bigfoot.
