After reading Steve M.’s review, of his ES, I went for it. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=12421.0
My thoughts after a first ride mirror everything he said. I will just add:
- The 3 silver OEM luggage & mounting brackets from my 2012 fit perfectly. The dealer swapped them and rekeyed them to the new bike for free. This will get me by until I can afford the Jesse System.
- Factory heated grips – ordered. They told me there Is a special set (plug-n-play) for the Tenere - $340.00
- The out the door price was $14,470.00 – including tax, parts & labor on grips, fees, and they swapped out my Flash-to-Pass garage opener free. http://www.sehornyamaha.com/
- Having gone off the 2012 and onto the 2014 the same day, I can say the 2014 is quieter, shifts better, and the engine feels smoother
- The kickstand is a plus as I got my pant leg caught in the old one once and dropped the bike!
- Even though Steve said it, I must repeat that I LOVE the cruise control, wider mirrors, and indicator of what gear you are in. The computer is great once you see someone explain it vs a book. Very intuitive & displays lots of stuff.
- The windshield, fully raised, is more effective right at 70MPH & created a better "calm zone" right at your face. I'm 5'10" & had the seat on the low adjustment.
