My son told me that I should get into the 21st century with a pair of bluetooth wireless speakers for my helmet. If any of you have done this with your motorcycle helmets please let me know. I appreciate any insight(s) you might offer. I did look ant jab bird bulbuls X. Looks interesting but I am sure there are a lot of other speakers of this ilk. Also have been thinking about the Bose self canceling ear buds.
Thanks for your time.

Yep... seems like the Sena and Scala systems are the two that pop up most often in forum chatter. Search for these two here and at ADVrider and I am sure you will find too much info.

I own the Scala G9 system and will never ride without it again - PERIOD. I have used DirtDad's Sena setup (can't remember model) and it was nice too. We routinely have 4 Scalas interfaced together with my normal riding crew and the "connection" with your riding partners makes the ride infinitely more fun and I feel safer too.

Whatever you get, be sure to buy the "set" so that you have two of them. I know it is a bit more outlay up front but it is SO NICE to have that extra set to offer a buddy to use on a ride.

We use the Sena SMH10 set and there are literally hundreds of threads on various forums about how great they are. For 2-up or riding separate bikes, it really is transformative to be able to talk with who you are experiencing the ride with.

If updated to the latest Bluetooth, the manufacture suddenly makes little difference. I've forgotten the total number of units which can be in the party now, but it is great that there no longer have to be Sena groups separate from Cardo groups, separate from Scala, etc.

::026:: on the Sena smh10. I love mine. I mostly use it for listening to Pandora as I ride. There are some good deals out there as the new Sena20 is out. You need the new 20 to use with other bluetooth brands. You cannot update the 10 to do that. For music and passenger or bike to bike communication it is great.

Here is a link to the new version.http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-20s-bluetooth-headset] http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sena-20s-bluetooth-headset

Good luck with whatever you chose!

I have read that the Sena 20 has had a lot of issues. Do any of you have the Sena 20? How do you like it?

On the contrary, the SMH10 can be updated for the Universal Intercom feature: http://senabluetooth.com/universal_intercom/

Sena SMH10-R works great for me. I say that as I have no experience with any competing product. It was a little rocky in the beginning as it took time to figure that Bluetooth didn't play well with WiFi on iPhones, but after that it's been a breeze and every bit the trans-formative experience that Checkwrecks stated. In addition, it seems to be the lowest profile and least physically intrusive model. Good luck whichever way you go!

I got the Sena SMH10 dual set and love it. Great for chatting when my girl is on the back, riding along on the phone, or just jamming out. Haven't had any issues and battery life is superb. Instalation was a breeze too.

Sena, two year warranty. I broke one of the prongs after 18 months, sena replaced right away, no questions. Great sound and easy to use.

I use the scala G9x and it is fantastic. This system is also hands free in that you can go from music to radio to phone to gps with the command of your voice. You don't have to touch any buttons. You can also tell it to increase or decrease the volume. Clarity of sound and talking in the mike is absolutely fantastic.
