Just got my ST order in yesterday in Alabama. Dealer says September so plenty of time to plot and plan any additions. Currenly riding an Electra Glide Ultra as well as my DRZ 400 and 1995 R100RS BOTL (Vesco). Won't go back over all my bikes but have done my highest mileage ( and best memories) on Adv bikes - '92 GS-PD, '96 1100GS and '02 GSA. Thought hard about another BMW as they have always served me well. However, ever since first reading about the S10 my mind has been pretty set. This site and a couple others really solidified that - glad to be along for the ride.

We have heard from some who didn't care much for their BMW experiences for one reason or another, but it is good to hear a prospective from a satisfied BMW owner who had decided to switch to the S10. I know that is a long way off, but I will be looking forward to your comparison once you've had your S10 for awhile.

While I have ridden a number of bikes, I always seemed to be at home on a BMW - and never had any major issues on any of mine. Owned a couple of Harley's as well and while the trips were fun, I keep coming home to this jumbo dirt-bike style bike. Although it has been a few years since my last GS, I look forward to determining what I think about the Tenere.

Welcome. I just got here myself. (I was delayed over on TT page... that's my story and I'm sticking to it) I have a blue one on order, and I too prefer the dirt style setup. I have a WR250R as well, like it just fine, but can't see many long trips on it. Anyway, again, welcome aboard.

Hey Wulfgar, welcome aboard! The way this year is flying by, September will be here before you know it (for me at least).

I've onwed 3 BMW's ('95 R100GSPD, '01 R1150GSa and a '97 F650) and never had any major issues either. Would I own another? Probably not - but "never say never"!!

I really enjoyed my BMW cruiser, but at 700+ lbs and 50,000 miles later, i was ready for something different. The v-strom is more my style. If the st is anything close to or better than the vstrom, (which I believe it is) I'll be thrilled.

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts. And maybe I missed the bad BMWW years? ;) Something tells me I will be glad to be on the ST either way.

My fave bike overall was an 85 k100...rode it every day to and from work and touring...put 45,000 miles on it and never had a problem.

Of course, that was a bike built 25 years ago...so maybe things have changed (and when haven't they?).

I have a buddy who has a Yamaha 1300 in Germany. He has been test riding multiple bikes. He said that of all the bikes, he likes the Super Tenere best and wishes he could afford one. Prices are high for this bike in Germany.

Welcome Wulfgar,
I spent some time on the red roads in central AL in the early 90s. Would make for some good riding. I'm also interested in your GS comparisons when your bike comes. Your wait, like many of us, will be easier since you have multiple bikes and will be here before you know it.
