Since 1992, I've had a 1991 Honda XR250L. Yes, the bike is 20 years old and is still running great. In my younger days I LOVED taking that bike offroad in the woods, powerline trails, new developments etc. I used to jump the crap out of it, and found the stops at the bottom of the suspension more times than the bike would like to remember. I've been riding the Honda to work now and again even up until this past week.
Today I bought the Impact Blue Super Tenere at Triangle Cycles in Durham, NC. O'Neal and Bill were awesome to work with. I trailered the bike back to Winston-Salem, picked up a few things, and then my wife and I headed up to Ashe County. I actually unloaded the bike in Wilkesboro, and enjoyed my first real ride up the mountains to Ashe county. Once here, I hit the Blue Ridge Parkway for about an hour, and enjoyed the late day sun on the beautiful leaves.
It's obvious how far advanced any modern bike is than my trusty XRL, but I'm so glad that my first new bike in 20 yrs is the Super Tenere. I've only known about the Super Tenere for two weeks, but as soon as I saw it and read about it, I knew that this was the XRL's replacement. I am giddy with excitement, and look forward to so much enjoyment of the new bike. I'm more road than offroad these days (I have a Grizzly 700 for the offroad stuff now.) But, I can't say that I won't test the offroad prowess of the Tenere from time to time. I love this new bike, and I'm just blown away by how great it is to ride.
Thanks,
David
