blinking key red light

2018 super 10 ES. 23000 KMS on it. just noticed today that when i shut it off, it has a red key blinking beside the neutral light. is that normal ? never noticed it before. if not normal, any idea what it means? thanks

Normal. Indicating your immobilizer is activated.

I'm not sure where you are, so assuming CA, Kph fixed, with a late ES bike? US bikes did not carry this feature.

gv550 is perfectly correct, but there are in fact more facets to the light that are worth checking out - page 3-6 & 3-23 in my UK owner's manual, but may differ in other markets, so just check the index ............ https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/motorsports/owners-manuals

It stays flashing for around 24hrs so don't panic when it's not flashing in a couple of days!
