Black Factory Panniers?

Picked up my Raven Super Tenere this morning with the factory side panniers mounted. Has anyone tried powdercoating or painting the factory bags black? Any reasons this can't or shouldn't be done? Thanks in advance.

I know my Yamaha dealer coated OEM bags with a rhino liner coating for one of his clients. I saw them they looked good. He said he had to remove all of the plastic corners and locks and stuff before coating them and that is was a big PITA.

I'd think you could do a decent masking job and avoid 99% of the PITA.

I saw bags that had been powder coated in black. Stadium Yamaha did them for their customer. They looked great.

i am thinking of painting black too. just haven't taken the time while watching tv to sit and tape everything off around the edges.
Very time consuming. Painting is easy part!!
