Soooooooooo... I did it. I rode to the end of Estrella parkway like I've done on several occasions. Today.... I decided go into "uncharted territory" (for me)and take the tenere off-road. I adjusted suspension, set to T mode and traction 1. I stood up, and slowly let the clutch out at the same time.

Even though an elderly person in a wheel chair could have passed me, the adrenaline was pumping! I then loosened up my death grip and my upper body. Everything was going well, and then I was coming up to sand 3-4" deep. ??? I didn't let my first instinct take over (hit the front brake). Instead, as the front tire hit the sand, I shifted my weight a little toward the rear and applied a little more throttle and made it through!!! ::015::

I then made my way back to the road, set the suspension and modes back to my preferred street setup, and started back home.... Grinning ear to ear, at about 45mph.

Here is where the "bitter" part comes into play.....

As I'm riding back, a small fury thing decide to kamikaze it's self into my front tire. :'(

S10.....1, little fury thing.....0.

I can say that the tenere has amazing suspension, abs brakes, and traction control.

Hey at least you didn't get death wobble in the sand and almost piss yourself like I did! I made the mistake of not airing tires down and going on stock tires.

Sounds like you had fun. I am not very good... ok terrible off road but next time try TC 2 or TC Off. Doyou have a 2014 ES? "Adjusting suspension".

I have Demo'd the ES three times and like it a lot. Smooth power, smooth ride, better ergo comfort.

try TC2 next time offroad, you will find that bit of extra freeplay before the traction control kicks in will actually help smooth things out. That and stay relaxed in the sand and look where you want to be.

You will learn to like it more and more, next thing you know you will take Aguila road from wickenberg north, maybe even cut across to the parker racetrack by dirt road.

Nicely done MotoJunky. Next time you want to do some dirt, let me know. I know of a few easy roads around here...

There you go junky. Rinse, repeat and the confidence will grow. Don't forget to squeeze the tank with your knees when on the pegs and the surface is dodgy (sand). ::008::

Your admiration for your giant dirt bike will grow too. Keep using your head though, she can dance but if she falls on you it'll leave a mark. ::024::

Thanks, everyone, for the words of advice and encouragement. AVGeek. I'll definitely get in contact with you in the next week or so. Just waiting on a few goodies from Revzilla.
