On the way home last night the bike (20120 threw the Engine problem light but ran fine until I got home. Went inside to grab the manual and see what I can find out, turn the bike over and no more light.

This morning, bike turns over sputters and dies. Light her up again, and then dies.

She turns over, but will not idle or run.

Im at a loss. No error code, no more engine light. Just wont run.

That is what I was going to ask. Have you had the tank up recently and is your gas cap seated good?

Bike turned over and idle'd for about a minute before the RPM's dropped to about a 1K and sputtered for awhile. Applied throttle... dead. Tried to start her again... dead.

All electricals fine, no codes or lights.

I rode about a 1000 miles after having my tank up on my Zx6r once, then I am on the track and I smelled some gas, yup, the hose had not been properly clamped on.

To note, often when valves get tight they will act like this, although it should have been a slow progression.

Check the vacum lines where they go into the throttle body in the left side if its leaking or come off it will display the symptoms you described.

Service Diagnosis says that it is the intake air pressure sensor and hose. Must be replaced. The hose is back-ordered but the sensor is coming and the old hose can be reused I guess. Anyway... long day, seems a simple (not cheap) fix.

So the sensor to tell you and the engine that there is an air intake blockage, is faulty. Saw a similiar issue on a Mercedes 4wd. Seems like if you didn't have a sensor fitted in the first place it would have run fine. Electronics- love em and hate em

Have to agree, never had problems like that on anything but my Yamaha's, both v-stars and a virago and now a Tenere. Also had that problem on a Subaru... My Chevy, Harleys and Triumphs didnt have many "sensors," or at least didnt have many that broke. When they broke it was always something more basic.. wheel broken, alternator broken, seat broken, tire broken... easy diagnosis.

It took the guy nearly 5 hours and a few phone calls to Yamaha to get there, cant imagine what it would have put me through had I tried it on my own.

That said... it is what it is and I still love my bike.

Electronics are lovely until they go faulty. Glad you found out what it was.

I had similar issues and the bike idle was all over the place. Would range from 300 rpm to 100 then die. Yamaha had to replace my throttle body $1200 for the part but yamaha paid for it even though I had 18000 miles on the bike.
