Bike has sat for a week. 1/4 tank of gas. Bike has 4,000k on the clock. Thumbed the starter and engine just cranks, no life in the belly of the beast. Two days of fiddling and still nothing. Suggestions?

First thing to try is cranking with WOT. Read the various "hard start" threads if you want more background.

Have you put fresh gas in - filled it up?
As Mark stated, WOT and keep it turning over... Might take a few but should start.

Technically, if WOT does start it, then it was the operator not knowing to do that, that was in error.

Couldn't resist.

And I really do want the op to get it started.

Yep, MUST be operator error, because the S10 is the bestest motorcycle built by the bestest motorcycle company in the world. O:)

Naw, it really is a pretty good bike. I'm just a little jaded from years of bike specific forums where some members feel compelled to constantly justify their purchase.

Read a few pages of the "Very Hard Start" thread, try the WOT method. If that doesn't work, try the fuel pump fuse method. If that doesn't work, trade it for the new KTM 1090. ;)

well, unfortunately if someone says "and after days it still won't start" it probably needs plugs and an oil change. Pull the fuse and give it a shot, but there may be a chance that your plugs wont be the same. Good luck.

Whatever the reason, some of us would like to know the solution in case it happens to us, well me anyway.

Howieronic texted me tonight saying the WOT throttle start worked and fired right up. He hadn't washed the bike or started for a hort period before sitting for a week.
Barry, glad you got it running.

WOT is an amazingly important piece of information that EVERY Tenere owner needs to know.

They may never need to do it. Or might just once. Or twice.
But without knowing it, you are stuck.

When I was young and pre fuel injection, we all knew the WOT routine on every internal combustion device.
But then, we also knew where the jack and spare were too. :)

I love progress though. Don't ever wanna go back.

The HoebSter left me a voice message on similar start problems. Treated it like it had a carburetor, throttle open wide and BAM lift off. No moisture encounters the previous week. Ran 3/4 of the tank through during the week, so was puzzled...WTF. This bike has been flawless and caught me flat. I was all dressed up and no place to go. Imagine my disappointment of stripping off my gear and climbing in a boring ass automobile. All is beautiful in my world now. Thanks, guys and gals. Barry
