OK, this raises a question for the Californians because I don't have time to look it up -
Don't your bikes have an extra bit of smog equipment? If Boots wants to buy a non-Cali bike, will he have trouble selling it in Cali at the end?

Boots - Transferring registration is generally not hard PROVIDED you can use somebody's address. This is especially true if you buy from a dealer, as you can pay them a fee to have the bike inspected and then do the paper work. If you buy from a private party, most States have you get a very easy safety inspection and then spend a couple of hours at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Arizona is actually is one of the easiest states to register a bike in. I bought my ST brand new from lotecredneck in Texas, and brought it straight back to Arizona. No inspection, just paid the fees at the DMV.

What ever state I end up buying in I will end my trip there.
I've done a bit of research into buying a bike as a foreigner and new Mexico looks one of the easiest plus I
want to start in the south go north to Canada for summer then back to were I bought the bike ::26::
looks like I will need someones address for a private sale, well plenty of time to make Friends ::003::

CA bikes are CA specific. A used 49 state bike can only be registered in CA if it has over 7500mi.

I am currently going through a horrendous set of hoops to register a 2009 Zuma 125 that was "free".
