So being both sick and bored and also selling my FZ1, I've had a lot of time to do some internet shopping for its replacement this spring. I really like the Hayabusa but the insurance rates just piss me off. Looking at the Tuono, not great looking but fast and the Griso, not fast but great looking (IMHO). Anyone have any experience with these two?
Not a question to be asked on the FZ forums;-)

Too bad about the insurance, the 'Busa is by far the best of that bunch.

Agree, wanted a Busa for a while. The insurance would cost as much as the four bikes I have in my garage combined, and I have a clean record. I guess they have quite the reputation, just glad the insurance companies are unaware of what my moded FZ is capable of.

I'd go with the Aprilia. Go with an Exotic. I've had several Aprilias in the past and they've always been fun and reliable. They've required less maintenance than the Ducatis…

With that said have you considered the Ducati Diavel? I know you didn't ask, but when I gave up racing and wanted something that still was quick but didn't torture my back and wrists, I took a look at the Diavel, bought one and absolutely love it. It has a 168 hp, handles well (not as well as a naked bike), light, and definitely a more upright position. I tell all my older racing buddies, the Diavel is the perfect former racer, old man bike…

Of course people either hate or love the look of the Diavel…

I do like the Diavel and would consider it. Next time I'm in Austin I'll check it out. Austin seems to be the Meca for Italian bikes here in Texas. Thanks for the suggestions.

My vote would be for the Griso. I had a Stelvio and it was a really nice bike. The down side to Guzzis is that they are not as reliable as Yamahas, but if the Griso was one of a number of bikes in my stable, I would go with it. Nothing, absolutely nothing, looks, sounds, and feels as cool as a Moto Guzzi, IMHO.

Move to the great state of Washington. No insurance required. No joke. Buy and ride what ever you wish without paying the insurance robbers. Strong emphasis on wish. I wish for 80% of the bikes I see or read about. BTW I carry full boat insurance on my S10. $300 a year for a little peace of mind.

The Griso is a strong contender for me, drop dead sexy IMHO. Just don't know if it would satisfy my need for speed. Funny, when I'm on the Tenere I'm perfectly content cruising around taking in the scenery, when riding my FZ, not so much. I'll need to test ride one for sure.
