I found out about this and missed the deadline to enter. So I got on the waiting list and someone dropped out. So I'll be riding my S10 to the big state of Texas in the middle of October! I'm totally psyched!

Now we have a lot of Texas folks on here, so I may just have to reach out to you guys for some advice. My wife is from San Antonio and my mom was born in Victoria, so I do have some Texas connections.

However, I will need some new tires before the rally, I have almost 15k on my K60's right now. Anyone have any recommendations >:D (ducking and running for cover)?

So now I have a few "To Do's" before I do this ride.

1) Electrify my tank bag
2) Get a paper map of Texas
3) Valve adjustment or not (I have 24.5k miles on the odometer)
4) New tires
5) Oil change before the rally

I plan to drive to one of the rally starting locations from my base here in Northern VA and back again.

Man that looks like fun. Your welcome to a place to stop over on your way west. I'm about 20 miles south of I40 exit 148.

::018:: I know there's a Fort Worth guy doing the rally. We'd talked, but there's just no way schedule-wise I could make it happen. Have fun - represent us well. ::022::

If you're interested, drop me a line at Rallymaster@BigTexRally.com
We had a couple folks drop at last week, and I'm trying to get my final count together before I start ordering stuff.
It'll be a time, for sure.

Route planning - What an adventure. This rally has a ton of points to map out and getting the right ones is an interesting exercise.

I'm not a Texas native, so I'm hoping I may get some advice on roads to avoid and ones that will work.

The rally starts Friday morning and ends Saturday evening. I'm starting in Victoria Texas and am looking a variety of options. But one option has me going down I-10 and/or 90. Both east west roads. Any input?
