After accidentally 'adjusting' my right side case :( it leaks a little now. It wasn't very much damage and was easily straightened. No damage to the corners just a little on the lower leading edge seam.

I've seen ads for sealers like the guy who spray paints the screen door as a boat floor but know nothing about these type of products as far as longevity or if it come off on everything put in the box. I have the waterproof bags for the boxes but they're a PITA and take up quite a bit of the room all by themselves.

I'm sure a bunch of you have had the same challenge and hopefully have some good guidance for me.

Hey Bart,

If the joint split at all put a few small fine thread screws in that area. These would only be the to tatal thickness of the bag wall. Then just add silicone on both sides of the area.
I had my bags full a few years sho riding to agressive off road and almost lost the bottom out of one of my bags. The way I just described fixed it with no issues.

I popped some of the rivets on mine filled the gap with 3M 5200 marine adhesive.. Better than NEW!

Worked so well I was thinking of filling the rest of the seams.

One thing to remember is it takes 7 days to cure fully.

However we used this stuff in the Coast Guard and its great! Waterproof strong, flexible and PERMANENT!

I tried silicone and it eventually peeled off.

Thanks all. The marine sealer is a great idea. Not sure why it didn't occur to me because I've used the 3M sealer on my boat in the past.

Jaxon, I don't think there's any separation of the seams. I mostly dented and straightened the forward panel and bottom panel.

I'll try and get picks.

I had the seam separate on mine.....I simply filled the gap with the 3M 5200 then fit a block of wood inside the box so it fit snug against the seam. Then took 2 large clamps on the outside of the box to force the gap closed. Let it dry and good as new.

So I really like the 3M marine sealer approach. Thanks. Now I'm going to take the box to the bathtub and really analyze where the water's coming in from.

I'll post back the results
