ok so after we all had our bikes a while now, whats the best tyres for tarmac and dirt combined. i want to be able to get my knee down on roads, but then when the tarmac runs out get the best grip on dirt trails/gravel ?????
the pilot 3 trails are great but are only road tyres and just dont look right on a bike that should go everywhere lol

Ummm... yeah but... if you get your knee down with them, you will be going ALL THE WAY down!

They are really just OK on the road. I've seen my TCS light flickering when accelerating hard out of a second gear corner on dry roads. I don't know if that would happen on Bridgestones or Metzlers cos I haven't had them on this bike, but seems like it shouldn't be spinning up (or trying to) under those conditions.

They don't really shine anywhere, but they are about the best compromise dirt/road tire out there and where they really stand out is mileage - I'm at 5000 and less than half worn.

This really seems to be the case with the K60's and because of this I will most likely go with them for the Whitehorse run. But, beyond that, I will likely go back to a more 90-10 tire, or maybe even a full blown sport-touring tire. The PR3's still look good to me.

i have pilot 3 trails, they are brilliant, but obviously no good for tracks or the odd forest road. and they just dont look right on a trail bike lol ::022::

Have you been able to determine if there REALLY is a difference between the normal PR3 and the "trails", other than the fact the trail comes in a 19"?

Also, it seems there are two versions of the rear. Which one did you get?

I picked up some roofing nails in the Battlewing at around 800 miles  and put a Michelin Anakee 2 on for replacement ::001:: I think I'll stick with it.
Not liking the looks of the solid strip in the middle of the K60's.

Hey guys... I agree with most of the guys. If your doing mostly touring and 90% on road there are some excellent road type tires. If someone like my self is maybe 50/50 or 65/35 the K60 to me are an excellent dual purpose tire.. I can carve as hard as I like with the tires and I drag my feet about every day with them. Off road is great as well..... Probably the best thing is it has a tendency to get fantastic wear out of a "knob" type tire.... For this type bike, and the riding I do.. this has been a great choice... I have enjoyed them so far....

I ride mostly asphalt.
I liked the Distanzia on my KLR. Tried Michelin T63's and loved them off-road but were very buzzy on-road.
Bought a DL1000 with Continental RoadAttacks and loved them.
Tried the Continental TrailAttacks on two KLRs and really liked them.
The Super Tenere came with Bridgestone BattleWings and I am pleasantly surprised how well I like them. Not sure what I am going to do when the rear needs replacing.
I have plans of installing the K60's on when in Canada/Alaska Summer 2012.

Sounds like me. I'm hoping my present Tourance's last until I'm ready to change out for the Whitehorse Run next year, but that's iffy since they do not seem to bye wearing as good as the reports from the BattleWings.

I have less then 3k on my Tourance's and the rear is not looking that great. When I change them out, I think I'll put on the Conti Trail Attack and see if I like that. From all the reports I've read they seem like a good tire. Being that I'm riding mostly asphalt they should work ok.

If I go with a 90-10 tire, I'll likely go with the Conti or the Dunlop TR 91.

They have some really good pricing. The best I've seen on the Conti.
They recently posted an introduction over in the vendor section.
