Wife and I want to add blue tooth communication equipment to our modular helmets. (She rides her own bike)

I use a MAC at home with the apple OS and some of the blue tooth communication equipment requires IBM / Windows software to update the device internal firmware and some only have Droid apps and do not work with Apple iPhone.

As we use modular helmets I am also assuming we will need Boom microphone or neck mics.

Been looking at the Sena / Cardo / Uclear but wanted to ask the group as to what they use ...

Santa is coming and I want to get a system under the tree,

BTW: Nolan N104 EVO 3 XLS for me / Wife has 3 modular helmets but uses Nikko N-920 L for most riding

Scala 9x. Bluetooth, hands free, can connect up to 8 units and at a distance of a mile. I stream music, gps and make calls from my phone. It also has a built in radio and quite a long lasting battery.

1 for the sena smh10, work well work my shoe neo tech,
2 for the Sena SMH10. My wife has used a couple of different modular helmets and it always works fine.

I have a Sena SM10 (set) and a Scala G9. Sena's work and connect flawlessly! Scala's are finicky lose connection with each other very easy. Sena's will connect with just about any system, Scala barely keeps their own connection. Scala works well by its self. Several things I do like about the Scala but end of the day! Sena all the way!!!!!!! I also use Mac OSx.

I can't say enough great things about my Sena. I've had them since before they had the USB port for upgrades. I also have a Mac and iPhone; no issues with doing updates or pairing my phone.

started out with Scala. Small buttons, hard to handle definitly no pleasure with gloves. Unecesary complicated. Sold them and got Sena. Very easy to handle. Very pleased with them. When it comes to soundquality it´s no big differens. Speakers on both are really shite I think, just good for talking. Music ? Nah :-[

I've got the Sena 20S, very easy to set up, phone app to change settings is very handy, sound quality impressive as long as you position the speakers where they are in line with your ear channels.

Not sure about the Sena, but one of the main reasons I chose the scala G9X was because it is totally hands free. I receive calls, change stations, change from radio to my songs on my phone all by voice command.

Tried some of the voice command stuff when we first got the Sena SMH10. Including the voice activated (VOX) setting for the bike to bike intercom. HATED it, it was awful and only worked 50% of the time or less. Had a real bad attitude about Sena at that point. Turned off the voice activated and have learned to really appreciate Sena. That was an earlier version before the USB update-able units we have now. I'll still not go back to VOX, but maybe it works better now.

I have the Scala G9x. The speakers are terrible, so I swapped them out for earbuds. The pairing function works fine, if you remember the PRECISE order of the 137 steps it takes to get into the right mode (mood, maybe?). The vox instruction set is next to useless for me. The noise-cancelling during phonecalls is quite good. People say they can barely hear that I am on a bike.

In my opinion the Sena units are far ahead of the competition. I have two SMH 10's, a SMH5, and a SMH5 FM. My newest unit ( SMH5 FM) is the best yet for sound quality.

Sound quality is where the Sena units are so far ahead. They have really worked on the amplifiers in the units and the speakers. You MUST position the speakers correctly, in any brand, but once that is done the Sena rarely needs to be over half way on the volume control. Which means the sound is not distorted. The SMH 5 units don't have quite as good of bluetooth bike to bike as the 10 units, but I wanted FM radio built in at the time. Which works much better than I expected. There will always be a pairing riddle with these things, especially if hooked to a phone, gps, or the bike ( new BMW RT system ) while using intercom. But it is way better than it used to be.
