I just returned from my second road trip on my 16, and without any reservations, I think this is the best bike I have ever owned, and I have owned a few.

This bike does it all, and what few faults it has, are easily corrected by the many accessories that are available.

It's great to hear about someone who loves their bike and enjoy riding it, as that's what it's about!
But the Tenere isn't a 'perfect' bike by any stretch, but I'm fine with it and I enjoy my time on it too.

It's funny going to other bike model forums, no matter what kind of bike it is, and someone will say that particular model is the best bike out there!
I even had people argue that the Suzuki GS500 was a GREAT bike.(worst bike I've ever owned) Makes me wonder if they have been anywhere else or rode any other bike???

I had some emergency eye surgery for a detached retina in December and have been grounded since. Got on the bike for the first time in over a month yesterday and it started right up. Rode down to the office and was in heaven!

Technically, what Fred (in Houston) said was it is the best bike he has ever owned.

And THAT I have no doubt could be true!

I have 7 or 8 bikes in the barn and many many more since the TS50 I got 47 years ago.

And honestly, the Super Tenere is the best bike I have ever owned. And it has held that status for a few months short of 6 years.

The word "best" is what leaves room for folks to disagree. But I know how I mean it. ::013::

Like Fred's attitude about 'Best', Love the one you are with... unless it is a POS then we can sell it and by another 'Best'.

I like most of my current Tenere especially since the Mitas E07 Dakars were added. If it handles well all the other things seem less important... TB syncing too often, twitchy throttle, slow cranking, hundred pounds too heavy (aren't we all), poor lighting, short shift lever, yada yada yada. For me the ES makes a positive difference along with shaft drive, tubeless tires, excellent braking, good gas mileage and tank mileage, low vibration (improved Clutch Basket), good power band, handles well with a load, yada yada yada.

This is my second Tenere with the first infected with the Failed CCT. Gotta wonder how much better the third Tenere will be ;D

Now, let me start by saying that my experience/time with the Tenere is much less than most persons on this forum. BUT!! I have many years and miles under my belt, have ridden in all condition, and I am not an overly picky person. This has to be one of the top ten, or maybe even top five bikes out there that are at home ANYWHERE. I can keep up with my son on his R6 on twisty roads, and then can take a goat path to nowhere. It has at least the luggage capacity of the FJR. I have read about it being over weight. IMHO that is a matter of perspective. From the first mile I kept wondering when it was going to feel heavy. Even with a passenger, this bike is "flickable". Of course I haven't had to pick it up after falling over....yet. I did notice that the headlights will shine ABOVE the roadway when heavily loaded. When the suspension, and tires, are at there proper settings, the lights are very good. For me, the Tenere is like my '13 Jeep, embarrassingly civilized and smooth for being a "rough and ready" vehicle. Both the Tenere and Jeep have capabilities beyond what I will ever need/want/use. OK, I'll shut up now. :-X

I'm totally with you Sierra1.

I keep calling it the Chevy Tahoe / Toyota Land Cruiser SUV of motorcycles.

I won't debate the whole "best bike" thing, but it's the best bike for me. I wanted a sporty-tourer that was comfy, had good wind protection, strong, torquey motor, was great on dirt roads, handled lots of road miles easily, was nice to look at, very reliable, and made me smile. It does all that....and more.

Spot on! I have been around for a while and I am not so naive to think that there is only one best bike for everyone. I was only speaking for myself.

Actually, there's a considerable number of distinguished Teneres represented here from your side of the winter.....ooops I meant border. ::)

On top of that, they've been here from the beginning of the North America Super Tenere arrival.

Congrats!!!

There probably these days few bad bikes, the are just ones that you don't like.
