With all the threads on this forum such as ,Cheep seat, Vibration, Power restriction, Hard starting, poor fuel mileage and how knows what else, You would think a first time visitor to this site would think these bikes had problems. I just want to say, My bike starts right up every time I push the button, My seat is outstanding an all day ,day after day great seat, The power of this bike is perfect for this kind of do everything bike, from touring to trails. Read my lips NO VIBRATION, I also own a DL650 and they are undisputed smooth, well I am convinced that my Tenere is smoother. It is the most comfortable all day bike I have ever been on, I have ridden three different friends FJRs this summer and my Tenere is way better. Just today I rode down into Missouri with a big tail wind,I gassed up ,reset the computer and turned that beast into a strong north west head wind all the way home, The wind was strong enough that I got a whiff of the hot chocolate Rem was sipping in Whitehorse. 40.3 MPG thank you Yamaha. I have gotten up to 52 a couple times in nice weather. I just want to say to new prospective buyers that this is the BEST MOTORCYCLE ever built! I only have close to 11,000 miles on my Tenere [do to no vacation time after picking up the Tenere ] But it just keeps getting better every time I ride it. Thank You, Steve

I feel the same way - even though I am one of the folks who had the hard starting issue. The bike fits me great, it's great to ride, and I think it will be very reliable; the hard starting will be a non-issue now that I have replaced the battery. I have just over 5000 miles on it, since I picked it up in August, and I'm still very happy. ::008::

::022::WOW thought i was the only one! got my bike on 7/29/11 it has 7000 miles on her with no problems at all. im coming off a R6 & tw200 & a 04 VMAX. The super tenere seems like they combined all three together with the handling of the R6 low maintenance of the VMAX and the off road handling of the tw200. I have sold the R6 and TW just need to find a buyer for MR.MAX. Their is no other bike i need the ST does it all. THANKS YAMAHA for building a perfect bike for me!

First: I have always called it Hot Chocolate. Never heard it called anything else!
Second: I have come from 2 Ducatis. a 749S and a Multistrada. Vibration in the bars, pegs, seat, and wind were a part of my daily ride. I am sure I be impress with the Tenere.
Third: My bike has 0 miles on it. I have done nothing but sit on it and make vrooom noise, but I love it.

I look forward to many many miles on this bike. I already have a few trips planned for 2012. ::012::

I whole-heartedly agree that this is the best all-round bike I've owned. I've had no issues what-so-ever, but understand that sensitivities do exist. I acknowledge a resonance in the lower RPM range centered around 3500rpm, however it's completely a non-issue for me. For a select very few, this resonance is really uncomfortable.

In a demonstration of extremes, I heard from a member who didn't have issues with the lower RPM, low freq. resonance as opposed to a few others, but when he fitted the Akra slip-on, the resonance shifted to a higher frequency that bothered him to the point where he went back to the stock silencer until eliminating most of the vibes through throttle body sync and CO adjustment.

In contrast, those that have an issue with the lower freq resonance report the bike to be nearly vibe free after fitting the same Akra slip-on...it's just a matter of shifting the vibes (which any motorcylce has) into a range that the individual rider is not sensitive to...and just to reiterate, the vast majority of owners have no vibe issues. There are also those riders that report vibes initially, but the bikes smoothes out as the engine loosens-up with more miles.

I came from the Multi12 also, hard to explain but the Super Tenere just fits better. Much better wind protection, and is fun without venturing into the speeding ticket zones!

My XTZ12B is by far my favorite bike I have owned. As stated already it does everything very well. The easiest to work on, battery access is a piece of cake, great mileage avg 46.6 mpg. etc, etc. One hard start issue and I caused it getting carried away with my garden hose during a wash and not running it properly afterwards. Ride on Yamaha it's great to be back with the OEM I started with back in 85.

Next to my Honda Super 90 I have to agree with y'all. The S10 has exceeded all expectations.

Took my S10 out for a spin today for the first time with the new Parabellum 24" shield. It was about 45(F) degrees and the shield did it's job perfectly. This is without a doubt one of the most comfortable bikes for the road I've ever owned. I thought my Multistrada with Ohlins suspension was smooth but this bike is as good if not better in the suspension department. ::022::
