Looking forward to increasing my presence on the ST forum as I traded my Harley in on a Super Tenere. The upright position is great, and the potential of what I can do and where I can go on this bike is something I am looking forward to. I'm gonna need to deck out the bike a bit with the important thoings such as skid plate, panniers, etc. It will be a work in progress and will look forward to the "for sale" section providing me with some proper deals on used stuff for the bike.

I picked up a bash plate and tank bag from the FS board at some great prices from other members. I was snoozin’ and missed a couple good deals on some things, too. :)

Well done, houndman, on moving from a "future" to a current Super Tenere owner. You will enjoy the "work in progress" component of your new arrangement. Good on you. R. ::008::

Houndman, Welcome to the Forum and the purchase of the Tenere. I hope you are able to enjoy the Tenere more then your Road-Glide. I have been really amazed how many guys here have come over from HD to the Tenere. Besides the upright riding position, what are some differences you notice about riding each? I ask because I have ridden a few Harleys at times over the years, and I ride what I do based on several factors of comfort, technology and LONG TERM quality!! After riding many Honda's I have come to expect nothing less than 100-200,000k from a motorcycle. Just curious, thanks Houndman!!!

Enjoy!!!

In response to HoebSTer, Riding a Harley for a long time now I did not have much exposure to other bike/styles. Riding a Harley became old for me. I realized I was much more of a motorcycle enthusiast rather than a "biker". I got tired of showing up at rallies with the same ole vendors on the same ole bikes. I found the Road Glide to be boring to ride as I desired more performance than appearance. While other, lighter weight Harleys that I owned were faster, etc, I wanted to expand my I horizons. I bought a KTM 530 exc and tore through the deserts only for a little while and discovered how and why the word sport applied to motorcycling! Fun and Challenging. But I don't need to bust my thumb again. So that kind of intense offroading needed to be modified. Adventure bikes appealed, BMW too expensive, KTM 990 to fickle maintenance wise to own for me, so it was the Super Tenere for me. What I found amazing is how easy it is to corner at greater speeds, the instant throttle response, commanding view from seating position. The sound is great without imposing on my eardrums. Would I own another Harley, yea, but for different reasons. Right now I have aspirations of going to the arctic ocean or the Washington offoad highway. Its just unreal how the ST kicks ass on the road but will function properly offraod. Wouldn't take a Road Glide there!

Congratulations on your new Super Tenere. I also had a Harley Road Glide and certainly enjoy my S10 a lot more. It is so much more fun to ride and a lot easier to maintain.

Whew, coming from a Harley I thought you you'd be cruising the 'for sale' forum for ape hangers, straight pipes, and sissy bars. Glad to see that's out of your blood ;D Welcome!

Had a Road Glide back in 2004 and subsequently got an FJR1300. Now have the FJR and the Super Ten. Alot of the same experiences and feelings that you mention. ::021::
