When I lived in Michigan, they had a similar hill. Of course, that was wa-a-a-ay before tubing; I was six. I ended up getting hit by a sled. One of those old fashioned, steerable ones made out of metal. Ended up with six stiches, and a cool scar. :D Tubing is much better safer.

No way tubing is better than a Flexible Flyer. Back in the day if you knew what you were doing and the hill was steep
enough these things ripped especially if you waxed (dripped hot candle wax) the metal runners.

Ok, I fixed my statement. They are fast, steerable, and fun. Toboggans might be faster, but harder to change directions on. Texas was the first place I lived that a toboggan is a knit hat.

Hill that dumps out onto the local pond that is frozen. A FF and a bunch of us kids. A FF is not very steerable on ice, and trying to avoid all the people ice skating. Fond memories.

Still have mine. Still a kid at heart. Or maybe I keep stuff way too long. View attachment 87473
Nice!
I still have me and my sister's original FFs. I also have quite a few that I picked up at garage sales over the years but they are stored deep in a closet in the basement.
Besides Flexible Flyers I also have a few Yankee Clippers which were made by the same company as FFs (S.L. Allen & Co.) but when new were sold at a lower cost then FFs.
