Hey everybody,
Just wanted to let those who are interested know that there was a Star Motorcycles competition with the Bolt between participating dealers. A bunch of cool bikes were built, and my students and I worked with the local dealership on a few items. Check it out at:
http://www.starmotorcycles.com/battleofthebolts/vote

and, if you would be so kind, vote Yamaha of Port Washington. You can vote from every device, every day, up until November 17th!!

Voted. I would have loved to go to school to work on that project. When I was in school I made a dust pan out of sheet metal and turned a wood handle on a lathe. Man things have changed.

Isn't that the truth, never had metal work but did have woodwork and I seemed to make countless coffee tables ::010::

Thanks all!! and don't forget that you can vote every day!!

As for the opportunities that my students have, there is unique mixture of factors that have led to these projects. First is my skill set. I lie outside the norm for teachers in this area. Much of that can be attributed to my dad's background that he passed on, the high school that I went to, working in the sheetmetal/welding trades, and then the college I went to, the college race car team I ran, the H.P. car shop that I worked at, and now the motorcycle repair and restoration shop I work at. So, skills I have. The other half of the factors are the amazing shops that I have at my disposal in our school(thanks to community business partners and student/staff hard work), the community members Like Port Yamaha that work with us, and my coworkers that fill in the gaps (previous paint pro). To say that the kids have opportunities that others don't is not saying enough. I hope that one day I can get paid for this after school club, until then I am going to start building my own bikes.

Thanks again everyone!!
