went to start my bike after it had been sitting for about 4 weeks ::26:: (first time it has ever sat idle for that long) and it only just Started, I fitted a new Yuasa AGM battery about a year ago so that should be fine,
So how long should it be able to sit and still start easily
Dose the anti-theft system drain the battery
do I have a problem somewhere or is this normal
Cheers Phil

Too many variables. Was it drained and not fully charged before parking it up? Maybe just a bad cell on the battery? First check if the alternator is charging to the right voltage, easy enough to do, then see if you can charge the battery all the way to full and see how long and how much it drains down. Not very likely the immobiliser has that much drain on the system.

I don't have a direct answer, but am not surprised with the immobilizer, clock, and any other parasitic drains. Especially if you put it away not fully charged, leave some GPS models or other accessories on it, etc.

If you want to answer this yourself, disconnect a battery terminal, check the battery voltage, and see how many ohms the system has when parked. V=I*R will give you the parasitic current flow and then multiply times 730 hours to see how much juice was drained over a month.

Weather also plays a big factor on power range. You'd need to factor that in too. Cold weather ain't kind to powah.

I have a Garmin NUVI 2597 LMT GPS which is left on the bike, these units turn on very quickly so maybe it is in a sleep mode but still drawing a current, I will check that out, the bike is charging the battery up fine so I’m sure it is fully charged when I park it up, I had just fitted a Anderson plug to the bike But I don't see how that could be draining the battery.
If I put a multimeter on the battery and then unplug the GPS will I see a change on the meter?

Only if there is a draw, that is to say the unit is switched on, if it's off then no draw. If the voltages drops when you switch it on then you can eliminate the GPS. The Anderson plug itself will not draw any power.

No. The amperage drop should be too small to notice.
Disconnect one battery terminal and connect the ohmmeter to each of the terminals. You want resistance through the bike's complete electrical system. Then disconnect the GPS and see if there is a change.
