If I remember the Touratech guards correctly, they do not have the aluminum backbone that the Barkbusters do. The Barkbuster Storm gives a good bit of coverage for bad weather.

The Barkbusters with the Storm guards were my first choice. The Barkbusters have the aluminum backbone which sold me on them and they install really easy. I have noticed that compared to the oem guards the Storm offer less wind protection. I'm gonna get some more ride time with them before I start to MacGyver them.....

Oh, and I also installed the Barkbuster weights.

Cam,

I think there are extra "flaps" available for the Storm guards; I've seen some pretty original and very clean McGyverings using trash can parts to provide more coverage. The best set up allowed the flap to be folded out of the way for more ventilation in good weather.

At least on my 800 GS, the Barkbuster bar end weights reduced vibration in the bar, which was nice. If a Kaoko throttle lock is in your future, you will need a Barkbuster compatible one, available at TwistedThrottle.

I guess it depends on where and when you ride - I had Storms on my 800 GS, and appreciated the additional coverage when it was raining or cold. They were also nice when riding through the woods - great at deflecting the little branches and brambles, etc.

Thanks Criss.
Storm it is then.
Let us know how much more wind protection you get from the Strom's. An installation writeup with parts list and pictures would be nice.

Does Highway Dirt Bike (HDB) make any handguards that will fit the ST?

There it is.

Dualsport plus shipped em to me last week.

I've painted everything in black before instaling.
You only need some ALLEN BITS to do the job. And one 17mm wrench for the mirror... Watch out for the right side mirror.
Took me 20 minutes maximum to do the complet install. Super easy.

I would like to see more pictures of how they mounted to the bars.

What trouble did you have with the right mirror. Mine is VERY tight and so I left it alone. any hints?

Jo,

Your bike looks awesome! Unless you do something really wild, those handguards will work out great for you. The ones on my 800GS got a fair bit of use, and held up wonderfully.

Thank you. LH thread. I would not have thought of that. Good engineering.
