Not crazy about the bars on my 2014 and read about guys using Raptor bars with different bend. I'd like to have less bend in the bars but when looking at the chart for Raptor bar bends I can't tell which bend would be less than my stock bars. Anybody swapped out there bars with Raptors ?
Thanks
LJM

ALL bars have less sweep than Tenere bars. IF, that is what you mean by "bend".

The Tenere is the leader of everything on the market in 2 dimensions: Sweep & width

Love the width.
Cringe at the sweep

Try changing the angle of the bars. did that to mine and now like them. Still need to move the right brake lever up a little.

The ProTaper Contour Raptor, I believe there is only one. I've got them, like them a lot. You gotta do some research for getting the bar ends mounted, several different options out there.

One of our members took a pipe and fit it over the end of the bar and bent the ridiculous sweep out of it.
I didn't think of this myself before i bought the Ricky Carmichael bend tapered bars, or I would have done the same thing as i like the width but the back sweep was killing my left wrist.

I was the first or one of the first to use Raptors. I based them off of the dimensions of a KLR Gen 1 handlebar. Used to use the Gen1 bars on my DL1000.

The best way to check for proper "pull back" is to extend your hands over the bars. Your knuckles should be even across the bars. If they are not you will get hand and wrist discomfort. Rotating the bars can change the angle (small amount).

The Raptors do cancel some vibration by design, so does proper mounting. Make sure the bars a torqued correctly.

Thanks for info. I didnt read the pro taper chart right & now I get it. Seems like most guys choose the Raptor & that's prob what I'll get. Do the raptors raise the bar height as well as having less sweep ? My stockers are about 36" but I think some of that width is from bar ends about what is the width of the raptors all mounted up ?
Thanks
LJM

The Raptor is about an inch and a quarter taller than oem, width is pretty much identical.

Sorry you don't like them, I happen to like the bars on the 2014 much better than my 2012. Works better for me when riding off road with the bar risers. That helped more than anything. Of course.... I haven't ever changed the bars out to see if they would be better. ::26::

Google ProTaper and pick your distributor. I got mine through Chaparral.

The only issue I have found, is not being able to find handguards that will work with the Pro-Taper Raptors and the Yamaha 2014 Tenere ES controls. Any suggestions ?

You need longer 'control surface' for that, right?

I have a 2014 also is the problem not enough straight bar length to fit the switch ?
I saw where the raptors are listed at 32" which seems aprx 3-4" shorter then stock.
I guess most of the guys here have done the bar swap on 2012-2013 bikes.

Just went out and held my '12 bars against the Raptor. The ProTaper are about a 1/4" wider, possibly identical under the rubber grip, the 'work' area is identical, tip to the start of the curve. I'll have to run by Bob's with the '12 bars and compare them to the '14 he took off. I'm thinking a 'run' to Partsfish to compare part numbers might be quicker. I'm betting the only difference between the '12 and '14 bars is the amount of crap mounted to them. Where Bob has run out of room is he wants to mount BarkBusters, there is not enough bar left past the switches for that. Otherwise the bars look good on his '14.

Different prefix, same part #, $30 some-odd difference in price, back to a live comparison.

Thanks for info. ! Sounds like the raptors would fit a 14.
