You get what you pay for!! Oh, wait a minute, no you don't...
Only kidding, but this may just be a one-off? Not good either way, I like yourself have a 'cheapo' light bar from China, almost identical but with five LED's and they have been pressure washed, rained on, snowed on and then back in heated garage, and run perfectly.
I would email Baja Designs and see what they can do to rectify, you never know?

Baja Designs dude will see this thread and make right.

I have about 20k miles on my Onx lightbar including freezing rain, rain, deluge, hot Nevada humid Florida, and about everything in between. Saved my life at 2 AM near Big Sky from a suicidal Moose!

No complaints here.

Hope your experience improves.

Definitely contact Baja Designs...they are down the road from just a couple of hours drive (in San Marcos). The OnX bar I have has been flawless.

You obviously are irritated with your light failure and it might be swaying your interpretation of my simple post.
That, and you haven't read enough of my embarrassingly number of 1000's of posts. If you had, you would have a completely different outlook on my smiley face.

My smile followed immediately Truegrips post. (another inmate that has been here for a very long time. And a personal friend)

I simply smiled. Nothing condemning or insulting, I assure you. Think of it as a thumbs up to Truegrips post. And no, I wasn't celebrating you not being able to ride.
But can I ask why you can't ride with a faulty accessories light?

Have you had something from Baja Designs fail?
Do you have any experience with their warranty/returns etc?
Yes. You call them up telling them what you did to troubleshoot the issue you're experiencing. Then they email you a prepaid return label to send them back and they'll get a replacement out the door to you. Likely that same day before you get back from kite surfing and drinking pina coladas.

Easier process than most RMA's, in my experience.

BTW, I realize you didn't ask, but I would suggest taking it easy on the forum "elders" that are chiming in. They're a wealth of knowledge and have been around for a long time helping folks, like yourself, out. Any responses you misinterpreted were likely due to the fact that you never mentioned if you had contacted Baja Designs at all. For all they knew, you were just here on a soap box complaining about a company that has hundreds of happy customers just on this forum alone.

I know it sucks when a top notch product doesn't work like it should out of the box, but part of that price premium is the support you get after the sale. ::008::

Best of luck - hope this helps.

Seems like bad form to go online to bitch before even giving the vendor a chance to rectify the situation. Especially so for one who is well known for their products, warranty, and support of this group. And couldn't ride because your accessory light was down? Come on. These guys are being too polite.

I have a 2014 non-ES just like yours, from the look of your picture you have the OnX mounted underneath the headlights (where Yamaha meant aux lights to be mounted).

I suspect your trouble with the mounting angle is due to the trim piece that Yamaha added on the 2014-2015 models to "fill" in that area and make it look a bit more finished, just remove that trim piece and you should be able to get more adjustment pretty easily.

I have been working on getting a Rigid SR light bar mounted in that same location and the trim piece definitely is getting in the way and causing the type of problem you are describing...

What year is your bike?
2012. I just read your above post on some possible slight differences in the stays. On my 2012 there is enough space to adjust the bar up or down as much as I would want. I just replaced my stay a month ago (broke my old windshield mount tab on a rock). What a pain in the arse to replace.

Best of luck in getting a correct fit. My Onx has 2 spots and 2 floods and the light it puts out is unbelievable, both to the side and forward. Riding down highway 19 in Florida at night I could see every deer, clearly, along the sides of the road, and there were a LOT of them.

Regarding the angle adjustment we discussed (that I could not get a high enough angle for as I would like for some types of rides).
I looked at the part numbers of the headlamp/windshield stays from 2012 bikes and 2014 bikes.
As I suspected they are different and that may be why I can't get a good angle ...( high enough)

Windshield Stay 2014 2BS-2831R-00-00

Windshield Stay 2012 23P-28356-01-00

It looks like the 2014 stay is slightly different, not allowing the OnX to be raised as far as on the earlier models.
The Stay was changed to accommodate for the new windshield design.

The OnX is a tight fit and even a small change could be the problem.

Maybe a bracket with a bit more of a drop in it so the OnX can be tilted all the way to horizontal.
I bought the OnX Super Tenere kit a few weeks ago for my new '14 ES and even after removing the trim under the headlights could not get it angled up high enough to be useful on the road.
I have a ride coming up and didn't have the time to be waiting for new bits to be shipped to Australia from the USA so I went to a local engineering firm and had them make me two new brackets which have an extra 10mm drop. This now allows a large range of adjustment in the light and make them much more useful.

Cost me a fair wad of cash to get two brackets made, but quicker (and probably cheaper too) than getting replacements shipped from USA to Australia.
