If you use the Bags-Connection "Engage" EVO Quick-Lock Tankbag for your Super Tenere I would love to see some pics of it. I been looking at these tank bags for a while and it seems this model is the size I'm looking for.

Aren't the two sizes most are using the City and the GS?

True, most people use either the GS (17-25 liter) or the "City" (11-15 liter) but I'm looking for something with a much smaller foot print. The "Engage" (7 liter) seems to be the perfect size for me but I'm curious if anyone is using it for their bike.

The ST10 is not under compatible bikes but if I already have a quick connect ring on my gas tank why would it not fit... Maybe you guys that use one of these bags could help me out.

Thanks!

yes, the quick connect ring should fit right across the sw motech range.
I have the GS and the city, both work across my yamaha, and honda rings (and for that matter my sold suzuki)

Thanks for verifying! How do you like the bags/system and how well do they hold up against sun fading? I live in Arizona and that's usually what's noticeable first on equipment around here.

my city bag was bought in 2007 I believe, and it's faded a bit.
I do have the map pocket, so that probably helps.
Overall i'm happy with the bag, I bought the GS one, as it came up locally for basically half price (what you listed yours for)

before ordering, give twistedthrottle a call, they will confirm/anwswer your questions,

decent bunch of guys there,

g

I would give twisted throttle a call. I had the Engage XL on my K1200s and kept the bag when I traded for the S10 hoping I would be able to make it work on the new bike. Just holding the bag up on the tank of the S10 made it clear that the shape of the bag ( too wide at the front) was going to be an issue. I ended up selling the bag and ring on a bmw forum and funding purchases for the S10. Hope this helps.

Not so fast, the Engage bag comes with a EVO tank ring that is not compatible with the original style rings. You would do well to call them and discuss what ring you have now. If you're already running a City or GS bag, odds are you'll need them to send the Engage with a compatible ring for your existing ring.

From the linked web page -
Note: If you already own an SW-MOTECH tankring please ensure it has an EVO style quick-lock ring prior to making this purchase. This tankbag comes automatically with an EVO style topring which is incompatible with original style tankrings. A description of the differences between the two tankrings can be found in the attached file (see installation instruction tab above). If you have an original style tankring and would like to purchase a compatible topring for your new tankbag please call us at (855) 255 5550.

got my rings mixed up.

I was referring to my regular, non electrified bottom ring. Across my three bikes, all fit both my city and GS bag.

Great input from everyone and I'll be giving them a call before moving forward on any of the bags. It's refreshing to be part of a forum that actually helps each other out. Thanks!

I have the City bag with the map case. Looking at the pictures in the link above, I don't think you would be too happy with how wide the engage bag fits. The bars will hit the bag before lock.

I'm getting ready to write TT about my electric ring. When I ride through a rough section of road or bump the bag, it momentarily loses contact. The pins in the upper ring have dug small pits into the contracts on the lower ring, so it appears the only way to fix it is replacing the lower (tank) side of the ring. I suppose there's always a tradeoff for making things more convenient. :-\

There were always small divots in the center of the bottom contacts on mine. The lower ring contacts don't really wear. Take a look at the upper ring, mounted to the bag, and see if the pins there stick out equally. They are spring loaded. They should push in and pop out equally. If one is odd or doesn't return as the other does, it's possible a pin is broken. I had that happen to the first powered ring I had. TT replaced it w/o issue after I returned it to them. Excellent customer service.

On my replacement unit, nothing seemed out of place, but the contacts quickly became momentary. I'm not sure if it was the fit of the two rings to each other, (both plastic), that becomes looser with age/use, or if it's simply an issue of the small amount of travel on the spring loaded pins.

IMHO, the pins are much too small, and have too short a throw for them to continue to remain in contact with the lower ring's contacts as the bag moves around while riding the bike.

Note that the newer EVO style tankbag rings have latching parts on front and rear, rather than just sliding in from the rear and latching in the front. The EVO style rings are put on by pressing strait down on the tank bag after aligning it over the lower ring. It appears to have much less slop in the rings. (I have both styles on hand.)

If your contacts are blackened, and your pins appear to be unbroken and returning equally, you might simply need to clean the contacts and apply a dab of conducting grease. I had temporary success with doing this with dielectric grease, which is non-conducting, (something a totally forgot about at the time), but the conducting grease would probably have been better. The blackening comes from arcing as the bags shifts more than the pins are able to float while remaining in contact.
