:D :D No adventure is complete without that! 8) ***Late entry*** great choice of crash bars as well as vendor. Too bad the U.S. models don't come with silver side panels; they are a beautiful combo with the siliver AltRider bars because they blend so nicely together. The black/silver stil looks damn good though. .

Arrow Cat-Less Headers and can

Well This showed up late on the little brown truck my last night at the house before living for a week at work.
I wanted to wait until next week when I got home but they kept calling my name.
So out in my cave I went to install them along with a PCV.
I had to take the Skid plate and Pannier mount but all want well with the install except I was out till after midnight getting it done.
I have one question for those who have the Arrow headers the rubbery thongs around the springs and yes that it the technical name them.
Keep them and watch them melt off or go ahead and cut them off now?
No for two real bad dark cell phone pictures because we all no with out pictures it did not happen.

Just for your information the long line kit can be installed with out removing any panels just turn the bars to the opposite side your working on and it can be done with out to much fuss.

First Problem

I have had my first problem with my my bike and build. I am at a loss for just what happened but some hoe I burned a hole in the plastic dust shield that sits in between the rubber dust boot and the aluminum swing arm. I have about 3/8" to 1/4" air gap between them. Every thing is mounted firm no movement at all even while trying to pry it over. The hole and melted plastic showed up during a ride this week. The bike was not running hot at all actually the air temperature was in the low 80s and I was just cruising to back roads at an easy pace when it happened. After I noticed it I stooped and covered the hole with a small piece of Duct Tape and then road another 400 miles. The Duct Tape never burned or blistered actually it looks just like I put it on. I am at a loss for what happened to it but Monday I ordered a new one a whopping $ 5.08 dollars this thing is going to make me start hanging out in soup lines.
Anyone know much work it involved in replacing it??????

Surging fixed

I had a bad case of surging around 2000 rpms and real light throttle.
I fixed it by adding fuel like this
2% 5% 10%
1750 14 16 10
2000 16 18 12
2250 17 18 12
2500 15 17 10

This was on top of Jaxon's Phatmap

Re: AltRider MSARD ( skid Plate )

This is the AltRider MSARD that is Motor Sound Amplification and Reflection Device also sometimes called a Skid Plate.
Another winner from AltRider easy install and everything lined up perfectly.

I fixed the MASARD device completely by having it Rhino Lined on the inside.
Absolutely no difference in sound now between it mounted or off the bike.
Now when I put the kick stand up just a thud instead of a gong sound.
100% satisfied and can highly recommend this to anyone that had a loud skid plate.

Suspension set up

I finally got my suspension all set up.
I am 170 pounds and carry about 15 lbs in the panniers at all times that I am not loaded down for a trip.
This is the set up I have now and for my normal riding mostly on rural back roads and forest service roads this is the best I have found.
Front 3 lines showing on pre load, Compression set 4 clicks from maximum, Rebound 6 clicks out from maximum.
Read pre load 1 1/2 lines up from maximum, Rebound 6 clicks out from maximum.
With suspension fully extended no weight on it to sag with my sitting on it is 63mm both front and rear.

Are you happy with the PCV with a pre loaded map and the header system? Did you do the clutch jumper? I am tore between the S10 and a BMW 1200 GS and the only negative for the S10 is its motor. If it can be easily hot rodded and does not end up with fueling issues that is great!

Having had both i can say the s10 motor is a lot nicer than the beemer, the last decent bike bm made was the 1150 in my opinion, i reverted back to one before the s10.

Yes, I agree. Like the S10 motor better. Had an 08 GS12 and am happy to report that I like the S10 a whole lot better overall. Brakes, suspension, and TC work better on the Yamaha too. S10 motor is gruntier too especially with the Clutch Switch Mod. Cost of ownership is not even close. Won't even mention peace of mind= Reliability. ::001::
