Just wondering if any one has tried the AVON DISTANZIA for the rear on the S10. I had them on my KLR and had very good luck with them, but not sure how they will hold up on the Tenere. I'm going to need a rear tire in the near future so some feed back would be helpful. And I realy don't go "off road" much, 50/50 hwy and gravel ocasional forestry roads.

I have not run them on the ST.
But a firend has run them on his Vstrom 1000, and liked them.

If you got 12xxx miles out of your rear tire on your KLR, half it for the ST. ::014::

I ran a few Avon Distanzia tires on my KLR and liked them but also found the Continental Trail Attack tires to be more round and better suited for road. The TrailAttack or RoadAttack is the roundest tire I ever had on my KLR.

My Tenere came with Bridgestone Battelwings "E" series tires and I like them and have a 400 mile set in my garage. I changed to Heidenau K60 to ride off road with a load and found them to be a very good tire but not a road friendly tire (too much vibration). This tire is a Gravel Monster. With a loaded Tenere I can ride 60-70 mph like I was on a freeway.

Recently removed the K60 for Michelin Anakee 3 and they remind me of the TrailAttack... round, smooth, good feel for the road. The MA3 on a heavy Tenere really like higher tire pressures... 37-38F and 41-42R.

I am not an aggressive rider and prefer backroads and dirt/gravel roads. Freeways and around town is just something we have to do.

Have recently heard good things about the aggressive Mitas tires but don't know much about them.

I have run two sets of the Distanzia on the Tenere, and really like the tire all round, all weather and road conditions, that being said I am currently trying the Anakee 3's, which seem to be wearing a bit better, and maybe a bit better on tarmac.
Also, my riding is probably 90 street and 10 gravel.

Interesting you said about the k60 and noise. It's all a compromise. The mitas work for me, wear will not be as good as the k60, but I have more trust in them in the rain. They do move around even when dry (it's basically a knobby tire) but if you expect it, then it's not a complaint. I liked my battleaxes whenever I ran them. My friend ran his on our last trip through British Columbia, and had no complaints.
