For those of you who are from the northeast and are sick of the cold weather I thought I would post some pictures of my resent trip to Florida form New Jersey. No.. I was not brave enough to take the S10 all the way, so I took the auto train out of Lorton, VA about three hours form my house. Actually, I considered just flying and renting a bike once I got there. But taking the train was just a little more expensive than the airfare, bike rental and insurance. Not a bad ride, the train departs Lorton at 4pm and you arrive in Sanford, FL 9am the next day (approx. 17 hours). Dinner and breakfast is included with the sleeping car. It was nice to wakeup in the morning and hit the road in 70-degree sunny weather. Especially, when the wife texted me and told me it was 15 degrees back in NJ (she was pissed). Met up with my buddy form Orlando and we did Key West, Miami, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale. Put about 2000 miles on the bike and had to get an oil change while I was there. On the way back had to delay my return by one day because of the weather (sleet and snow is a no go). Plan to do it again next year.

Kevin

That auto train sounds like a cool idea.

Looks like you had a fun safe trip. ::008::

That's always been an interesting idea. Mind telling what it cost for you and the bike?

It's around $900.00 US round trip with sleeping car. If you don't want the sleeping car minus 500.00 bucks.

Hey Kevin, Looks like a fun trip. I used to ride to FL. From N.J. for many years the first week of March starting in 1977 Through 1992. Many times in weather that I wished we took the train. Love that ride to the Keys over all the bridges. Didn't see your photo of your bike in front of the southern most point in Key West. If you missed it you just have to go back. Wade.
