My mate Matt is now in the US after spending some time in South America. We met on the Stahlratte sailing from Panama to Colombia, and rode together for some time in Colombia and Ecuador. Good guy, knows how to have fun! Would like to meet some "real 'Mericans", so I offered to put the call out here...

He's in Mobile Alabama right now, on a route that will take in New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, northern Georgia, Appalachia, MD, New York and on up to Calgary. Will take him about 7 weeks to do it. He'd love to meet some locals, go for a ride, have a beer. Anyone in?

Here's the blog that he and some fellow aussies put together for their Central/South America trip. Make sure to watch the videos!

Memphis here. (Hernando MS just 20 miles south). What do you need?
Thanks Patrick - not really in "need" of anything, but I think he'll take whatever is offered ;-) - but really he just wants to meet some locals, maybe get some route tips or go for a ride. Pretty easy going guy, and will have a beer with just about anybody!

I can likely help chase down a route or two across much of WV/VA and perhaps a micro brew or two as well. Give me a shout. ::001::

You know he has a home here in Folsom, CA if he comes through. Oh, and we have a REAL guest bed for him now. Sorry, you had to rough it when you were here. ::012::

Ha! Roughing it... it was a cut above a night in a Peruvian jail (cops were hosting me for the night...) Your study was five-star compared to that!

On the road in USA now, but I live in Alberta, Can
G'day fellas! What an awesome list of invitations for me! Thanks so much! I'm very impressed with the response.

I just got into New Orleans today. I'll hang out here for a few days, then I'm going to head north towards Memphis.

As Trev said, I don't need anything, just interested in meeting locals. I'm travelling on my own at the moment, so always happy for a chat, a beer, someone to ride with, or best of all a place to sleep!

I will PM people as I'm nearing them.

Again, thanks!!

Matt

A day late on post here............

Matt showed up Sat close to lunch time, we had some dogs on the grill and chatted for a good bit. Super nice guys, he is a in-ga-neer so we had good talk about work and mechanical fun stuff. I advised him to lighten up his load before going to Graceland, he accepted and off he went. I was not able to ride with him but gave him some tips and what not. He returned and we had BBQ for dinner, Patrick style!!!! A few beers and we had 3 good rounds of cornhole. Yea he was confused at first, but he caught on and had a good time. As the dark came on we talked about living out in the country away from the lights and what not. With only a few drink in me we took the side by side out for a adventure. Did a few laps, fell in a hole ended up on our side and made a video or 2. No Kawasaki parts were harmed during the ride but we loose some cargo from the rear. I would have to go back and find it in the morning.

Sunday morning he was up and out kinda quick, we had a family day and he was heading to see Trugrip. I have traded messages with him and I know the area on the Duck. I helped Matt with a route and told him to go for a swim as the heat is on. He arrived safe and told me about his time there.

Well I made a friend and helped out a rider, he is a good guy and really easy going (did not matter what kinda beer I gave him her drank it). I WILL make a Alasaka trip and he will be part of it, DCStrom (Trevor), I plan on meeting you sometime, he spoke well of you and I would love to hear how your trip is going.

Stay safe buddy and keep the pictures coming.

I got to host Matt last night and it was a pleasure. Loved to hear his story of his trip and will read his blog now. O to be young! I let him drive the tractor down to the river for a cooling dip. After dark we moved to the porch where Matt played the guitar (very well) and we watched the lighting in the distance. Today he was heading to Nashville so we rode the northern terminus of the Natchez Trace. We went to Pucketts grocery in Leipers Fork and had a mug and listened to some live music. We got rained on just enough to cool us off. We parted ways at Loveless Cafe he has headed downtown. Really good guy a real traveler hope our paths cross again.
Matt at Bakers bluff today. We took a hike down to Jackson Falls

I think he told me he had 30,000 miles on the KLR been on the road 16 months. I'll say it one more time "O to be young"
