Sorry guys but I sold the S10 and bought a BMW. At least its not a GS, its the R1200RS. I loved the S10, really great bike but the whole AdvT thing is not for me. I never took it off road, I got tired of climbing up on it and I'm more comfortable with a bit of forward lean. I'll still be checking in on the forum and I promise I didn't drink the Kool-Aid, I still like all bikes!

Great choice, let's see a pic of that beauty! The reviews on that one all point to a fine machine, enjoy it.

Sweet! Enjoy the new bike. I hope to see you and the RS next Saturday. ::008::

There's nut'n wrong with owning a GS either. It's good to see you were able to work up the courage to confess and step out of the closet here! ::)

Donk I would sure like to know how you find the transmission on your new machine. A friend bought a 2015 R1200RT and let me take it for an afternoon. The only way I could get it to shift smoothly from first through third was very low revs and short shift it. I am curious if I was ignorant to the technique or if there are issues. Here is a wish for many happy and safe miles on the new bike. Enjoy.

Hello All -

I'm the one who bought Donk's S10. An absolutely fantastic machine. - Donk was a true gentleman, had the bike totally detailed and filled with fuel, ready for my 2000 mile ride back to Texas.

I got a chance to check out his RS - VERY NICE bike. Look for him ripping around South Florida.

That ought to be one very well taken care of Yamaha you just bought. And you are in Texas, which is where a lot of our members are, if you want to be part of their activities or need support.

Donk,
It's OK, I bought an RS also, but I kept the Tenere as well. Wonderful bike, I really like the fit and finish, definitely a quality build with these Beemers.

Jory,
Welcome to the club, you're going to Love the bike, and this forum has tons of information, and great people.

I had a 2012 RT (pre water cooled), and found that by "preloading" the shifter, it would be a really nice "snicker" into gear.

But boy that RS looks like a really nice bike. Congrats and enjoy it.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and support.

About the transmission, to be honest it's a bit clunky. Somehow I've figured out how to get mostly smooth shifts but it does require some practice and you certainly don't just flick it into a gear first through third. I find it shifts smoother as the revs go up. 5000 rpm seems to be a sweet spot. If all else fails I can always use the quickshifter. Fortunately I was aware that they're not the sweetest shifting bikes when I bought it so I knew what I was getting into. How do you like that, no excuses!

Don't think I could keep up with you on the RS and me the Tenere. We could have some fun if I still had my VFR. We wouldn't being to 500 mile days without a day soaking in the creek!
