TenereStreets said:I got the Arrow headers installed and the bike runs very well with no surging at 2k RPMs. Also thanks to ~TABASCO~ for suggesting the ¾ turn out on the throttle bodies. I just had that done along with the valve adjustment. The bike is smoother in the very low RPMs and the chugging is gone which I kinda liked. Next week I’m getting a custom PCV map done.
Can anyone explain these measurements on my valve adjustment work order under “Recommended Repairs?” I was told all the valves needed adjustment however the intake numbers look unchanged.
Break the run-on apart this way to cylinders and separate the lines and it makes more sense:
[Cylinder] #1
EX. .008 HAD .199 NOW .196 .
.007 HAD .199. NOW .195.
#1 IN. .004/.004.
[Cylinder] #2
EX. .008 HAD .196 NOW .190.
.008 HAD .195. NOW.190.
#2 IN. .005/.005
The intake valves were within spec per manual page 2-4, which shows the specs are:
IN .10 - .16 MM .0039 - .0063 IN
EX .22 - .28 MM .0087 - .0110 IN
It looks like the exhaust valves needed new shims and the odd looking 190-199 numbers are the shim thicknesses. The shims come in thicknesses of .05mm/.002", so those numbers make sense, since changing the shim in the first one from 199 to 196 would loosen the clearance by (3sizes x .002"each =) .006" to get back into spec.
