All you need to keep deer away from your bike would be to let me ride it in full camo with an unfilled deer tag. I am the world's worst hunter.

na, looks like a gun but only to deers. Just added a Hornet electronic deer whistle under my headlights. The device is connected to the battery and emits a 5000 Hz frequency to scare off widllife. Should be handy for my upcoming Alaska trip....

I was searching for this kind of product to use here in the Patagonia. Here the problem is "Guanacos" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guanaco an animal similar than llama.
I don´t know if the problem in the north with deers but here "guanacos" is a serious problem, because this animal for his skin looks "camo" with landscape and is very difficult to detect.
I saw in the webpage some differents equipment. Can you tell me if I could buy one model with 2 o 3 wires for diferent vehicles, one for the bike, another for a car and other for a light truck (SUV) ?? or if I need one for every vehicle?
Excuse me to disturb with this kind of question to you, but I think is better the opinion of a customer than the seller, and some times I can obtain best advices about real work of equipment with customers in real conditions
Thanks in advance

Great addition! I hope it works. I am travelling to Alaska in July and should prolly add one as well. But the farkle fund is more than tapped dry. :D

How much clearance do you have from the bottom on the mounting bracket to the fender? I ask because when I mounted my Baja lights there, I ended up with only 6 inches of clearance. Since fork travel is 7.5 inches, will be trouble if I ever bottom out the forks.

5000HZ may work on WhiteTail Deer, but moose and bear may need 250000HZ, like a Train AIR Horn!!! Too bad we couldn't get heat guided lazers to zap oncoming varmits and wood rats!!!

Ainsworth, Don in Lodi and merchant,
- The unit has a male / female connector 6 inches from the device and can be easily disconnected and plugged in on another vehicle if needed, you just need to get 2 extra sets of wires connected to your vehicle battery. As the horn is bolted to the bike this may be difficult to do however, may as well get 3 devices for your 3 vehicles. Sure Hornet HQ can sell you the cable alone if you select the 1 device for 3 vehicles option.

- The filler part below the headlight housing is from Touratech : http://www.touratech.com/shops/020/product_info.php?cPath=8_89_656&products_id=6325&language=en

- I still have 7.35" clearance under the plate...should be enough as I don't see myself bottoming out the front wheel completely.

I just saw this note on the Hornet site:

"Important: The Hornet must have an unobstructed view of the road surface and be mounted in a forward direction at a 45° angle to the road surface, within a height of 6 inches to 3 feet to achieve maximum effectiveness."

"IMPORTANT: The Hornet will not function properly if mounted parallel to road surface."

Looks like you might have to rethink your install.

Thanks Steve, I just adjusted the angle of the Hornet using the small screw on the side and a bit a trimming of the plastic housing at the bottom. Should work even better now. thx again.

Now to test it out. Cows are just deer without antlers, so try riding into herd of 'em and see if they part like the Red Sea.
