Thanks guys, is there any way to bypass Las Vegas?
If you head through Bullhead/Laughlin, you can swing north to Searchlight, then west towards Nipton (take a look at the map link tomato city posted, and you can find the road there). Also, if you go that way, you can take Christmas Tree Pass road (just west of Laughlin), which is a nice easy graded dirt road.

If you decide to swing up this way, let me know when. If I'm not working I might be able to join you for the day.

One thing to be mindful of in Death Valley is the extreme lack of cell phone coverage. Even Shoshone is out of range, or at least it was the last time I was there.

https://goo.gl/maps/dEEkR57Xw2K2 Is this the route. I like that diversion. If you don't want to ride the Pass then continue on NV-163.

http://www.exploringnevada.com/scenic-drives/christmas-tree-pass.php Should there be concern for snow on Christmas Tree Pass?

Found a picture of Christmas Tree Pass road. This was from when I rode it in April 2013.
Nice. Can see where the blade had recently cleaned the road.

Now I want to ride Christmas Tree Pass Rd but will be off my motorcycles for two months. Mid November might be good in the desert.

That's towards the top of the pass. Unfortunately "they" have taken down most of the Christmas decorations. If you stop and wallk around, watch out for snakes.

Be sure to post up when you're up for some rides and I'd love to join ya!
We arrived at Tonto Basin on Monday February 30th. I road the Globe-Young Hwy on Tuesday and was surprised how much snow there was on the higher elevations. I'm still a bit nervous when I see that dreaded red mud after my accident last summer. So today I'm going to ride the Apache Trail. Anyone have info on the Reno pass ? As this is just north of Tonto Basin.

I'm sure you meant January 30th because there has never been a February 30th....anyhow, not sure about Reno Pass. We have had lots of snow at low elevations and lots more rain.

you still up for a ride Dean? I've been exploring the Backcountry and it's fantastic. Heading to Death Valley on Friday to meet a friend at Stove pipe if anyone wants to join in.

Lots of trails in Death Valley. This is usually the month I go. I like Titus Canyon and the "Racetrack" is pretty cool. I don't have any street rides planned right now. Doing construction at the homestead.
