Hey guys, So I just purchased a Tenere yesterday and I can't get off the damn thing! I made some great friends and riding buddies through the VFR forum when I was riding my 2003 VFR800 that I just sold.

I am in the Bay Area and would love to meet up with some of you guys and learn a bit about the bike what all that it has to offer. As well as maybe some of the good dirt roads that I really know nothing about since I have been on a Sport-Tourer.

Hello tc,

Congratulation on your purchase and welcome to the YST forum. There are a few of us in NorCal.

You will love this forum. Top notch members and forum ownership. Excellent information and a lot of fun. You signed on while a ton of riders are at a rally in Colorado.

Buy a service manual or the DVD. Take time to read through this forum. Ask questions and leave information. Change engine oil / filter and final drive fluid. Air up your tires. Adjust your suspension.

I am up for a Berryessa ride if you are interested. There is a dirt section I have never ridden. I know a few KLR riders that will drag you around the dirt / back roads of the Bay Area.

So far my bike only has 100 miles on it so I'm definitely going to break it in a bit and I think I would like to get some crash bars before I take it off road too much. But I will definitely be up for a Berryessa ride. I've been told there are some dirt roads around there but just not sure where. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what this bike can do!

??? Now look .... in the first post you said that you couldn't get off the thing! .... I thought you meant that you were actually stuck on it .... ::) then I realised that you meant that you just couldn't stay off it .... well you're clearly not trying hard enough .... 100 miles .... that's once round the block isn't it? Get back on it and don't come back until the clock registers 1,000 miles or more ..... go on off you go ::024::

Oh and we'll need photographic evidence.

100 miles ... zzzzzzzzzz

Bunch of us here on N. California.

Stay tuned for a tech day coming to Folsom in August or September.

I'm in the far north coast inland area -- 40 road miles east of Humboldt Bay. Only had the bike for a couple months, so still getting acquainted.

To do the Berryessa ride you don't need engine guards or a skid plate. I don't have a skid plate. It is just rough road for 10 miles or so and good road other than that. Here is a good day-ride http://goo.gl/maps/TG00l for your area. Some of these roads I have not ridden but they have always looked interesting. Another route to the coast is http://goo.gl/maps/FdkPp . Phil and I have ridden this before. It is a long day from Folsom / Sacramento.

I am located in Santa Rosa and have been on these great roads that Tim has provided maps for many times. These are super back roads that your VFR would have hated but your new bike will just eat up. My son used to have a VFR too but now has a Vstrom 1000 to ride along on all of these crappy (but fun) back roads. Makes all the difference in the world when you have a machine that is designed for our roads. Of course the VFR suited roads are a blast too ::012::
