Looked at a new S 10 ES Saleswoman said they are included with the bike just not on because of space. When I read the Yamaha website it’s hard to determine seems like they say they’re an option.
Which is it?
Thanks in advance

It's individual to each bike. The bike's don't come with panniers, but some dealers get a price break on accessory 'packages' that include panniers and top case, sometimes tall windscreens, etc. They get to choose what items. It's common for the dealer to pimp out a bike for the showroom floor and price it w/accessories.

Yamaha occasionally offered customers a deal on Yamaha accessories when they buy the bike too, ($1000 or $1500, if I recall correctly). If those deals currently exist, they would be on Yamaha's web site.

So, if the dealer tells you the panniers come with the bike, make sure they actually have the panniers there and/or get it in writing if they don't.

This is contrary to the FJR, which does come with panniers/side cases.

Some years the panniers were standard equipment on Canadian Tenere’s ,to me it seems pretty odd the way Yamaha does stuff sometimes.

In Denmark, the one without the electric suspension, don't have paniers included.
The other 2 models have...

Being the pessimist, it sounds like the salesman is just trying to pad his profits. FlyingSkeet doesn't say if he is US or UK. Because, like Eric said, they don't come as STANDARD equipment in the US.

Very good catch Sierra1. This is why having your location in your profile is helpful. Even if it's only a general area like a state or country. The help others can give is more accurate if we know where the person asking the question is.

Welcome aboard and agree that having something as basic as your country can really help. That said, even in the US I've talked to owners who had the panniers come with the bike as a package, but it was a dealer option, not something from the manufacturer.

They are not included or wanted. I tie on my own luggage. Those square bags are so ugly it makes me near sick to see them on a motorcycle, but to each his own. Yamaha does not put them things on. Dealers do that.

LMAO!! You're right, but I think we have BMW to blame for them. Yamaha just copied them. When I see the forward facing side COVERED in bugs, I realize how far they stick out. And you CAN put a case of beer in them. :D

Hey bud, what dealership did you deal with? What kind of price did you get out the door? I'm in SF and just bought mine up in Portland because none of the dealers down here would play ball on pricing.

Got it in Hayward. Petaluma also shot me a great deal on a non SE over the phone on the first call also advertised discounted prices on their website and cycletrader Yamaha search listed only Hayward, Sacramento then so cal dealers that Had the ES. not going to talk deals because people get butt hurt start calling people liars demand to see the invoice and all that crap. I THINK I got a great deal and that’s all that matters FWIW people call me delusional from time to time.

All good, I'm sure you did. If you want you can PM me. Hayward had some deals going for sure, they just didn't have the bike I wanted. Petaluma probably would have made me a good deal if I'd gone up in person, and they do HALF off accessories when you buy a bike from them, which is pretty killer. But I was so attached to the desert sand color, I was dead set on finding a '17 leftover. I tracked one down in Pasadena, and an identical one in Portland. Portland was ~$3,000 less out the door than Pasadena could do. So I flew up and rode it back down a couple weeks ago. Where in Norcal are you? Grats on the bike.
