I would suggest you go to your local dealer if you have a relationship, or reach out to one of the dealers that posts here.

There is a metric azzload of profit in the extended warranties and most manufacturers have some level of leniency (read $$$ penalty) to late registrations.

OR, don't sweat it. This board is very active and there are very few issues reported, and none of them as yet (AFAIK) expensive. I bought the yes on mine for 2 reasons. I did the PDP and wanted a little assurance on a first model year (US) bike. Second, I was a three-peat customer and my dealer is a volume dealer. He cut me a sweet price. Otherwise I likely would have passed. Bought YES on my FJR and it is at 50K and nothing but maintenance and mods.

I seldom use emoticons however just this one time:

It's been my experience with Yamaha on my 2013 3 mo old Tenere when the issue came up and still no answer they don't want to address any warrant issue so I am thinking how will they respond to a problem on a bike 2-4 years old. And I am not the only owner who is getting the silent treatment. My dealer has called several time to Yamaha in my presence so I know he is doing his part, I have called their national cust service people and talked to them and still nothing. It sure doesn't make me think I want to buy their YES.

Don't get me wrong I love this bike it is a great bike but all of a sudden Yamaha has gone from being the best to deal with on warranty issues to the worst according to my dealer who has all 4 of the Jap products.

In my experiance, if someone has a true warranty issue they step up fast and take care of the issue. I've been vary happy with other Yamaha warranty issues. I might suggest trying another dealer if possiable.

I've had three warrenty issues with my Ténéré and all were handled super fast and way beyond/above my expectations. One was the replacing of the silver dash bezel which fell off while riding on the freeway- they had to replace the entire upper half of the speedo unit as you can't just get the silver piece around the LED screen. Retail on that part was around $179.

The second was the rubber on the gear shifter, mine fell apart after 1000miles.. $5.00 part, the third was the swing arm $$$$$$ the finish/paint on mine was odd/cloudy from day one. I even offered to have it powder coated at my expense if the dealer/Yamaha would pay/warrenty the removal and reinstall of the swing arm.. Yamaha said nope they would just replace the swing arm..

Sucks your having an issue, I was beyond happy with my warrenty stuff.. I just bought the Y.E.S. after 5 months 6000 miles on my bike.
