Thinking of the next set of tires for the Tenere. TKC 80s maybe.

Looking for thoughts on riders who have experience with them on the Tenere.

These would replace my K60s - not afraid of going "more dirt oriented" in a tire. ;)

I have a bunch of tkc use on other bikes but opted for the Karoo on the super ten.
I like the tkc on road manners better but prefer the off road manners of the Karoo better. Tkc will last about 500 miles longer.

No, I am not talking about the Karoo 3 nor the Karoo T. The Karoo is their most aggressive off road tire equivalent to the tkc.

Really don't think you could go wrong with either. Air them down to 25 F and R and roost away.

Sent from my Windows phone. Spelling errors free of charge.

Won't hear me talking you out of putting Dirt tires on a BIG Dirt Bike!

TKC80's have conquered much of this planet. A true Heritage tire. You get my vote.

But you'd also get my vote on Karoos, KarooT's, Karoo3's, Big Blocks, ...........any tire with teeth. :)

Oh, and I rock a BIG Lumia 1520 too. Lol

Here's hoping Santa drops off that penis enlargement you need then... ;)

KIDDING! I'm loving my Lumia 1020 (41 megapixel camera, FFS!!!) - in fact, almost every photo I post here is form my 1020. :) Nice to see Windows Phone folks are smart about bikes too. :)

55 years old. And now far sighted. Was wearing readers with the 920.
The 1520 is like a small tablet. And much easier for this old man to see.

Like you, all my pics and posts are with the Windows phone. Not quite the beast that 1020 is, but 20mpxl ain't shabby.

Hijack over. :)

Rehijacking... if I see a pic of you talking on that phablet, I will tease you mercilessly!

In fairness, its a great choice for your stated reason, and for those, like me, who rarely talk on their phone, but email, text and use data all day long.

Back on track... ::)
Tire life on the '80s' will be very short. For many they have been a single trip tire; long drone on pavement to get there, play, long drone home = all done. As little as 2000 miles.
That being said, they are outstanding for that single trip. Great road manners, hook up like a mountain goat off road, wear slows @ end of life.
Who does the Big Block... Kenda? That one has advertised a reformulation for the big bikes, might be worth a look-see. Great price point for a short-life tire.

Yup. I spoon on a new set of Karoo the week before I drone to Death Valley. I play all weekend off road and then drone back. Putz around for about another month once home and they are done.

I'm BigBlocking right now. But not sure I have the "new" model. Got a brand new one at the dealer. Gonna stop by to compare and see if it's the same.

Regardless, cheap and sticky enough on tarmac. Really good off road.

Need to buy a tire machine. Then lifespan is meaningless. :)

The K60 actually matches the bike perfectly. They should be the OEM tire.

Now THAT would make a statement about what the Super Tenere is.

The Super Tenere is THE Round The World Pack Mule.

The K60 is THE Round The World Pack Mule tire.

Just to clarify, that's not a selfie in my avatar. ;) Taken by a friend using, ironically, an iPhone...LOL

Yeah, I have the K60's now. Great tire all around, but gives up earlier than knobbies in the dirt. I know, because its what caused me to wipe out last summer, after my own poor decisions got me oriented on the wrong path. I know a knobby would have held grip just the bit longer needed to regain control. Hence my desire to learn more about dirt oriented tires from those who've run them. Loving the input, but not digging the accelerated wear our bikes inflict on knobbies.

If the dang bike wasn't so freaking good at what its good at, I would view tires the same way I do on every bike I've ever owned. But it IS that good. So after a few thousand miles, I just threw in the tire-towel. :)

This bike gets whatever tire it wants. However often. Period.

It deserves it.
