I'm off to Tas for my 50th at the end of this year on a fly drive (unfortunately the other half doesn't do bikes) and am looking to book my car for the trip.

Is it worth me getting a small SUV (4x4) for the tour or will a car do?

Done Tassie 7 times on the bike.. Amazing place to ride... A car will do you well. The roads are well made and on the whole rather twisty so a better handling car would be better than a SUV...

90% off what what you want to see is 2wd stuff except a couple of beaches you can drive on

Just make sure the hire car is able to be driven on the dirt insurance wise.

Btw.. I took a drone down in the topbox on my last trip in Feb this year, here is the result, it's a beautiful place

Grab a coffee or beer, it's long, watch in HD on a full screen

Hytram -

You have done a beautiful job in editing and production with your video. While this is a total sidetrack from the thread, what Camera songs did use use for the slow motions, such as watching the clouds moving in and moving out?
I am guessing 2 minute interval still shots?

Beautiful job on the film, Hytram! I just got an email yesterday from Motology Films (Adam Riemann) about a new film he released covering a BMW safari ride through Tasmania. The full film is $25 to download but here's a teaser:

I have not seen the full film yet but I did pay for the full film about his insane ride from the KTM factory in Austria to the Pyramids in Egypt on KTM 500 EXCs. That film was fantastic.

Somerset - Sorry to continue the hijack of your thread! Congrats on 50 and I hope you and your lady have a fabulous trip. I know you're not riding but maybe this film can give you a taste of Tasmania.

thanks :)

I got the same email :)

and his ride from the KTM factory in Austria to the Pyramids in Egypt was the sole reason I got into building and flying drones, I saw the trailer for that and said I have to do that (carry a drone on the bike that is)

I love his work

thank you ;D
the Time lapse sequences (rolling clouds) are shot with a standard DSLR (Canon 400D with a Sigma 10-20mm lens) shot at one frame every 2 seconds, the panning is done in post processing by cropping each frame a little, done via a program called LRtimelapse. it still takes a few hours to process a 10 sec shot, all the aerial shots are from a Gropro mounted on a custom build quadcopter

I'm not sure I'm going to get bush walking done but we like to think of ourselves as a bit more than a normal tourist. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, especially good photographic content.

Exactly what I have found in the S10 brotherhood. We help each other. Even if we do walk upside down!
