I haven't either...... now that I have a reader -

I want to know if anyone's radiator fan has burned up (without being jammed because of a drop).

The reason I want to know is mine comes on a lot when slow riding -not that I do a lot of slow riding but that's how I describe my gravel road rides. I know that's how it's supposed to work. I just want to know if I should entertain the idea of a back up for far away trips.

If this fan motor has no record of going out, that would be great!

Thanks for any input -Mike

My fan kits on at every single light right now. 90* in Florida. Giving I have only had the bike a week it was owned in Florida before and has 32k of commuting miles on it. So I have faith in this fan. Further my klr650 radiator fan ran all the time, and I put 27k real hard miles on that bike. Fan never failed. I would be curious as to what it would take to make a fan quite

I have never had to replace a cooling fan on any bike ever, regardless of how often it ran or how many hundreds of thousands of miles it had on it.

Is this a serious question? I feel like I just got had...

Don't sweat it if your fan comes on a lot. I live in California and it's bumper to bumper traffic here in the city. My fan is on about 75% of time and I have just under 7k on my 2014. These fans are built to last and function. ::021::

Yes, I really wanted to know. I'm glad to hear the reports . My last bike's fan never came on. Not even in a traffic jam on the interstate in the summer. Either that, or it was so quiet I couldn't hear it. I actually think the Tenere fan sounds cool .

My input... You chose a crappy way to ask a rather silly question.

The same pancake motor is used on other models and I've never heard of one dying unless given a good reason.

To me your question sounds very reasonable, a couple weeks ago while riding some gravel roads in hot weather my fan was on a lot and like you I was beginning to think something might be wrong , just another new learning experience I guess, checked it over and everything seems fine, The fan sure makes quite a bit of noise when running.

Because this fan is loud, you notice more. I never realized how much radiator fans do come on, even on cool days when you are not moving. The way the radiator is mounted in our bikes, it really does not get any air when you are not moving, or at slow speeds.
