::025:: And I was unsure whether or how to take my small Westy with me! ??? I wouldn't like to take mine in me backpack if the Mrs wasn't riding pillion to keep an eye on me pooch, even tho she doesn't budge an inch on a run. Think the enclosed crate idea, if somewhat smaller would be best. Bolted to me Altrider rack n supported by both the rack n the seat... Plenty of room on the Tenere, but the Mrs would have to stay at home doing it that way. Shame... ;)

I can't find a decent pic in our gallery, but there is a guy around here who takes a West Highland around in his tank bag.

He runs a Street Triple & a 'Busa, both with bagster tank harnesses. Bagster/Baglux then do a small dog specific tank bag - add eye protection & a helmet & off they go. Always draws a crowd & the dog seems perfectly happy. Also has room for doggy bowl/water/snacks. With the tank bag set up he can still take a pillion, no need for back-packs.

Yeh seen them Ken, thanks... ::008:: Great that it frees up the rear of the bike for normal luggage or a pillion, but I thought it looked a little small even for a Westy? Also, there dunna seem much of a level surface to the Tenere tank to support it, having quite a steep rake too... If I was convinced it would work I might of had one. She get some wind protection from the screen too. Mind, not as much as in a backpack behind me... ;) She fell asleep there once riding home from a 8 mile walkies outing... 8)

I thought you was talking about the wife or a child hood friend!! :D

In this case unfortunately I carry my Buddy under my seat in a small container, she has been gone two years now but will never forget her..

Buddy looked to be one lovable pooch!

Been 5 years since my collie passed and it still hurts.

Found the 'Westie' image I mentioned, with the Baglux Doggy Tankbag. Seems to work OK on the Triumph, with some doggy goggles/helmet, provided speed is kept modest. Probably works better on his 'Busa, where a high screen offers more shelter for the dog, who always seem pretty pleased with himself on dismount. A dog with two bikes! ;D

Man, I miss my best friend too but what a downer; this thread is to get an idea how to take them along.

I don't mind none, as just a casual topic really. 8) Easy for thoughts to meander a little if somerts stirred inside... :)

Regarding taking me pooch with me, that tank bag pic you found Squibb would be bang on, but looking at the Trumpets petrol tank it looks flatter to me, whereas the Teneres tank looks steep if ya see what I mean? Would love to figure out a good solution n take me white rat with me on a camp trip. Lots of other hurdles to think about too over here in the UK like is it legal and what would I do if it rains... and it will rain over here one day or another! ::)

Not a downer for me, it's the memories that count with or not with us still.
I just have my pooch with me always all the time I ride.

For pets under 20 lbs this works for me and wife to carry our Jack Russel Terrier ...

pet palace motorcycle pet carrier

Works well on the interstate and smooth road. Secure latches and cost is about $200 ... no cheap but works well for travel and motels
Nice bit of kit that mate. Ya probably live where it's dry 366 days out of 365 :( but would ya know if its weatherproof or has it a rain cover of some sort to suit the green but wet UK climate? ???

Checkswrecks, that's just plain cheating with a sidecar... ;) I still wanna filter through traffic! :)

Update to my old topic... Well took me time and looked at the various options to carry me pooch, but in the end had a light bulb moment and made me own. ::) Dawned on me I had a fairly stiff helmet bag I bought for a fiver on sale ages back. So after some butchering, stitching, etc here's the result. Very secure with the built in bungees n velcro straps plus a little more fail safe work n bobs ya uncle. Gotta say me pooch is the perfect pillion n seems very happy watching the world go by on the Tenere. Dedicated dog carriers were upward of 150 quid, some neatly 300 when including tank harnesses, so even me pockets happy too with the home made effort... Looking forward to plenty of trips. :)

Looks great tenbob ::008::

Then, the best part - never any complaints about your riding from the pillion either.
